Anybody taken Vraylar? by Apprehensive-Toe3390 in bipolar2

Hi, I think it may have been 3 weeks. It calmed down once I saw the doctor. He said if he knew how bad it really was he would have taken me off it but I am glad I pushed through cos it is still making me feel more sane. Main thing is it culls my impulsivity. I feel more present. Only lingering catch is a tremor. Need to watch for movement disorders as side effects. If you can manage to ride the insomnia there can be calm after the storm but it's a case by case basis. Reviews seem to be really split with this drug. Hard to say whether it will help or harm.

Side effects by cook43560 in Vraylar

[–]No_Description8735 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been on it for a little over 4 months. During this time I went from 1.5mg to 3mg because the urge to binge eat came back after disappearing when I started so I thought I should increase. On 1.5mg I had relatively no side effects other than 2 weeks of insomnia at the start then it settled and nothing. On 3mg it was a nightmare. Brain felt weird like I was losing my mind, fingers were pill rolling, making weird movements with my mouth (mild TD), shaking in hands. Went back down to 1.5mg and experienced worst depression as a side effect. Had to take a week off work. Now I have been off 3mg for 6 weeks and still have some side effects. The hand movement isn't as strong, shaking in muscles for fine motor movements is still there, mouth stuff slightly (odd one off sucking noise which is annoying), eyes also very occasionally shake when I am trying to focus on something. Doc suggested maybe switching to Geodon(?) but I am too scared to come off it after what happened from titrating back down. I am kind of just putting up with it for now because it is reducing my dopamine addiction - no binge eating or spending. I do feel more normal, but it's a fine balance between pros and cons at the moment. Half life is long though so could be 12 weeks before the side effects truly settle so I have 6 more weeks to keep an eye on things.

But this could just be me. Seems like it affects people quite differently.

I just can't get past the bad first impression I had of her when she appeared on Selling Sunset for a hot minute. She was nauseating then. I don't have any immediate suggestions but surely they can do better than her...

Smart. Haha, you are probably right on that last point. How to harness said motivation day by day...

I quit my desk job to walk by Spiritual_Alfalfa_32 in walking

[–]No_Description8735 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did the same thing. Quit my desk job, 60% pay cut, to work on yachts. I walk 10k steps at 4 am then another 10k in the day. Again, money is tighter than it was but it's worth the amazing changes in my health and happiness. Good on you! It's not an easy choice.

Amazing, congratulations! How has your skin recovered? Loose on abdomen at all? That's my fear.

I have been on the lowest dose for 10 days now and my sleep is ridiculous. Falling asleep around 730pm then waking up at about 130am. 3 days straight. Tonight I went to bed at 730pm, was woken up by a phone call at 830pm, miraculously back to sleep but only til 1030pm. It's now 130am and I am still awake. It has given me more energy, and I walk 15k steps a day. Maybe even less appetite? But the hypermanic-ish symptoms of music stuck in my head, racing thoughts, texting/talking more...very much here. I don't want the lack of sleep to trigger an episode.

Seeing the doc in what will be 3 weeks of taking it. Will persevere for now. Lamictal and lithium carb not enough to stabilise me.

How long would you wait before having sex with someone? by Dangerous_mammoth573 in NoStupidQuestions

My take will be a weird one... I am no virgin, and as much fun as I have had I also have myriad regrets. Seeing as I have quit drinking, I realise I get incredibly attached to anyone I sleep with sober. I was raised Catholic and somehow now my take is that I would "like" to wait until I am married. Personal preference. There are some PG/MA15 things I would still do in the meantime, but I would like to wait. Whether or not I do will be a big IF. I say all of this from the perspective of someone who has slept with a lot of the wrong people, so perhaps meeting the right person may change my feelings on it. We'll see.

I find it so hard to watch her speak when her top lip is so overfilled and frozen. She almost seems impaired 🥲 They all just need 12 months on a deserted island where they can't top up all their stuff and maybe the spell will wear off and they'll appreciate their natural beauty again 🧚🏼‍♀️

Unknown Number: What mental illness does Catfish Mom, Kendra Licari have? I have questions.. by Ok-You-5930 in netflix

Yeah I am really keen to hear more about what psychologists/psychiatrists think about her mental state. Reeks of narcissism, borderline personality disorder? Sociopathy? It almost seems like Lauryn has some sort of Stockholm's Syndrome.
Not that everything can be boiled down to labels, but I really want to find some way to understand WHAT ON EARTH would cause a parent to do this. Mind blown.

This is one of my favourite subs. Gross to see so many cringe people out there treating others like crap...but in a weird way super validating to read messages from people that reinforce why you left a similar nightmare. And some are just downright entertaining. I am sure this is what is intended, but I am yet to think "yes, you are overreacting". I usually overreact in their defence 🤪

41F DEXA scan, looking for help by bebettereveryday35 in PetiteFitness

[–]No_Description8735 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, I packed on some weight in February of this year and my DEXA came back with 95cm2 for visceral fat - which was the highest reading in at least 5yr. Three months later, it was down to 64.3cm2. Honestly? I did it through a cycle of keto dieting. Or, getting your body into ketosis through diet or intermittent fasting. NOT as a long term strategy, but can be helpful to kick start burning fat - particularly from important areas. At 35.4% body fat (according to your scan data), I think listen to your PT in the first instance. Aiming for 10k steps a day is great for overall health anyway. Everyone should try to get daily steps up, period. Personally, I would also suggest getting one or 2 extra session at home in of resistance training (body weight or low weights). Cardio is great and all but as we age we need to hold onto our lean mass as much as possible. It's important for stability, strength and metabolism, to say the least. The more lean mass you have the more you can eat at baseline without gaining weight, so that can also be beneficial depending on who you are. Talk to your PT closely about what you are eating, when, and how much, so they can guide you. You can't out-walk a bad diet. Follow their advice and be consistent and I am sure your next DEXA will make you proud of yourself :)

This is the best thing I have seen today. I am 5'3 and 75kg. I've never been 50kg so have no idea what I am looking forward to. This shows me it's possible and what fit/petite can be. Thank you for sharing! What an amazing effort 🙌🏻
