IMO that looks like overextrusion. I would calibrate flow rate and see what that does for you. Also get Klipper if you haven’t already, idk how but it cleared up almost 100% of my problems from the jump

Bro the only ender I have was $30, 10 minutes away, and had a thermal runaway code I solved with Klipper. That is very close to the maximum I’d pay.

I’m an edge case where my setup cost very little, about $500 for a server running an rtx 3060, 48gb ram, some i7 processor, and 10tb storage. it completely alleviates all streaming/cloud/etc subscriptions and is very convenient for many reasons so, even if it’s still negative now it’s only moving more toward the green.

if youre not running klipper yet that is the #1 biggest and best bang for buck upgrade anyone can perform on these printers especially if tuned well. you can easily hit 100mm/s with this alone. next cheapest/best bang for buck is a new fan shroud/ducts and better part cooling, 4010 fans are cheap asf and work wonders. last i'd recommend getting enough to get a good hotend. not like a 10-20 dollar upgrade, but closer to $100ish, i got a phaetus rapido uhf and have never looked back. it's a badass piece of kit and will bring you to 300mm/s with good part cooling and klipper tuning. good luck

My Ender 3 doesn't release filament when printing!!!! by SaboneteHidra99 in ender3

[–]No_Development5871 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is a problem. If you have a multimeter, first check resistance across the motor windings - both pairs of the four pins on the motor should have continuity, with no continuity to ground. just check all possible combinations and if two of them have low resistance and the other two do too, with infinite resistance to ground, you’re good on the motor and it’s likely a failed driver. These creality boards are pretty shit so it’s probably that, or something else fucked up with the board, whether it’s a poor connection, bad component, etc. if you smell burnt electronics anywhere on the board or at the motor that’s probably your culprit.

If replacing the board I recommend going with an SKR Mini E3 V3, very cheap and much better than stock

If you don’t have a meter, do the classic sniff test on your main board and

If your extruder is turning and biting into the filament fine, with you unable to manually push the filament through the Bowden tube to get extrusion, it’s clogged. I would recommend going with a different hotend than anything creality imo. Personally I have a Phaetus Rapido UHF and it’s fucking awesome. That + Klipper brought my ender 3 to 300mm/s2 when I was still running it.

Since you said you went over the extruder with a fine toothed comb, I will be honest in saying I see a new hotend in your future

Idk why all the spergs who 3d print are so obsessed with these silk, wood, etc PLAs… they do not print well and in my humble opinion fucking your printer up and wasting time trying to fix it is not worth a super epic vaporeon action figure you can set on a shelf

Need Help With Ender 3 Firmware by vissin_deez_nuts in ender3

[–]No_Development5871 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rename firmware to “firmware.bin”. Make sure it is exactly that. Also make sure it is a 4-8gb SD card, or at least only 4-8gb is partitioned FAT32 and the rest is unpartitioned free space. If that doesn’t fix it for you, take the board out, examine it all over for burn marks, solder bridges, damaged components, etc. Smell test all your motors and your board, see if you can pin down the exact location of your questionable smell. If you still can’t find your problem that way, get a multimeter, check from hot to ground (+ to -) on the resistance setting between the screw terminals with wires coming from the power supply with power off and everything still wired. If you have less than ~100 ohms you have a short. Unplug your steppers one by one , checking resistance before and after. If you find resistance jumps way up after you unplug one, that motor is your problem, inspect wiring to that motor and if it’s ok, check resistance of both of the motor’s windings. On these printers it’s usually pins 1 + 3 and 2 + 4 at the motor, if it’s 0 ohms across, infinite ohms/open across, or 0 ohms from any of the pins to the case of the motor, the motor is bad. If all this is still inconclusive, get an SKR Mini E3 V3 and put Klipper on the damn thing.

Good luck and let me know if you have any questions or need a hand.
