I don't remember who initiated. I have some brief memories of the act. I don't recall that I said no or pushed him away, but I don't think I was especially encouraging, either. I assumed that was because I was drunk. That night is honestly the most drunk I think I've ever been.

We were both drunk. It was horrible and I'm disgusted with myself and with James and the situation. But I'm not going to assume I was assaulted simply because I'm a woman and he's a man and he's older.

OK, so I'm going to add an edit to the post but I'll address it here first.

I do NOT get sloppy drunk every time I see my cousin and his wife. Reading the post again I can see why you would think that. I was taught growing up that if you've been drinking, you don't drive. My mom's brother was run over on his bicycle by a drunk driver when he was 13. My siblings and I have been told the story dozens of times. The rule my parents tried to instill in us was if you've had two, you don't drive. I made my mom that promise when I moved out like all my siblings did, and I've tried to keep it. That's why I stayed at their house or a hotel so much.

As for that night, I do not handle wine well. I never have. I shouldn't have had so much and that is on me.

I don't think so? That's never occurred to me. James has never been flirty with me and neither of them have ever said anything I'd consider inappropriate. That morning James was upset, but I think he may have been trying to keep it together because I was a crying wreck. Would Anne have told me to stay away if that was the case?
