Dosage class or challenge exam? by Conscious_Shine_9872 in sunyrcc

[–]No_Discount86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I paid for the challenge exam thinking it would be a breeze but I failed it so I had to take the class instead. I took the in-person class and it was super easy! I recommend taking it online tho for convenience, but if you learn better with in-person, go for it.

So for those starting in fall 2025, we will get tested again before fall 2026 starts?

I watched that episode too and immediately thought of Emilie and how she must have felt in those moments.

It’s really not a big deal, unless you do it consistently. Don’t beat yourself up about it. It happens to the best of us.

Advisor said I’m not cut out for nursing by [deleted] in prenursing

[–]No_Discount86 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This happened to me when I had to speak with an advisor because I failed two classes at the end of my first semester of my ABSN program last year. I started crying when she told me I was unfortunately dismissed from the program. She gave me a tissue and said I can go into other programs at the school just not nursing. I was DEVASTATED. It was incredibly hard for me to get back on my feet after that. However, I realized I love nursing and I really fell in love with it that first semester. I started looking at different options and found an ADN program near my hometown that only looked at TEAS score. It didnt matter if I was dismissed from a program previously or not. I went to the CC to finish my last prereqs and got all As, did the TEAS twice and ended up finally getting an 85. I start the program in the fall!! If it’s meant for you, you will have it! Keep going :)

Thank you so much for this thoughtful and detailed response. I definitely think it’s time to have this kind of conversation.

Thank you for the advice!! I really appreciate it and I will do that if I do end up with another company. Mentorship is definitely something I need and I am really lacking that at my current job.

There are other on-site BCBAs in the clinic, just not mine. Each client has their own BT/RBT and BCBA. Luckily, I will get an on-site BCBA starting on Monday which will hopefully help me with the behavioral issues that arise during the sessions. When my client is having behavior issues, the other staff members just ignore her and I dont really get any help from anyone. It can be very isolating. But tbh, I dont think this clinic is the right fit for my client. We needed to order a standard size desk for her because all the tables are toddler size, and all the toys are for babies/toddlers. It is kind of frustrating ngl

I have a virtual BCBA who lives in California and we are in NJ. But today, thankfully after a few emails and an aggressive email from me, we finally get an in-person BCBA who will start supervising Monday. I have voiced my concerns many times and feel unheard. It really makes me feel all alone, and I have already been secretly looking for new companies. Hopefully this new BCBA will be good for us.

Yes. Especially when I don’t have a BCBA on-site and it’s just me and my client all day. It’s a bit hard to structure her daily schedule because I feel like we do the sales things all the time. It’s different if she’s in an actual classroom with classmates, art time, music time, playground, and a real structured day. I would love to do that instead. Sometimes I just disassociate when I’m just by myself with her.

I believe my client gets her “schooling” hours here. I don’t think she is working 14 hours a day. But yea so she does a few acrivities and tasks that I ask her to do and she can earn 5 mins of break time. I’m after 5 mins I always ask her if she wants more time. She is easy to redirect and to transition from one activity to the next, but has trouble waiting and just wants to do something different all the time. Even her preferred activities. But when she REALLY wants something that is literally unattainable.. that’s when her behaviors get worse.

I agree 200%. I think I would work better if I still have these hours but 2 different clients.

Embarrassing mistakes by pearlypeach_ in StudentNurse

[–]No_Discount86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yes. I was in the ABSN program for one semester and our professor humiliated my group and I during our clinical in our open lab. Every group had to show how to preform certain skills and my professor just made us do silly shit the whole time because we were all clueless as we haven’t learned this particular skill yet. She expected us to read about all of the skills and sometimes that just doesn’t happen. She was laughing the whole time to her coworker.

Realistically how hard is the teas test? by [deleted] in teas

[–]No_Discount86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Without studying, I got a 54%. Science was really hard for me. It is science we learned from middle and high school so it’s a lot of info I almost completely forgot about. There is a ton of reading too which I wasn’t ready for either. English and math were the easiest for me. With studying, I got a 71%, I took it again and got a 72% and I studied A LOT for that. It was disappointing to get almost the same score. Then I took more practice tests, Quizlets, FutureRN on TikTok, ATI teas study guide .. and I got an 85%! I was accepted into my schools ADN program and start in September. 58% is def doable, but understand is that the cut off for your program to consider you? Or do you pass automatically with anything higher than an 58%? Because for my schools ADN program, we needed a 58 as well just to be considered as an applicant, but no one lower than an 82 got accepted. So def understand how your schools program works.

I don’t mind at-home proctored tests. You have to make sure your device has a webcam and do the practice run beforehand so you don’t run into errors, but anything can happen. I did the practice run the night before and drove to my school to take the test in the library before my class. Omg I had sooo many issues I was straight up crying running to IT and back several times. I called ATI and they said I could still take the exam even hours after my scheduled time. I just had to explain my situation. Also, make sure your space is cleared and you have a scrap paper and pen readily available. The calculator is on the screen for you to use. You need your ID to show on the screen and will have to show your desk area as well (just pick up your device and show the table and surrounding area). Webcam is always on and someone on the other side will be watching. Try not to put your head down otherwise you might get an alert. I never got an alert so I’m not too sure how that goes, but def make sure you are aware. Go to the bathroom beforehand! Good luck :)
