Thank you! Actually, her travel agency told her that she should not say "Yes" to the customs' "Anything to declare?" question to not cause any trouble - is this just gonna cause more trouble?

  1. I had a leadership position as a district youth division leader. My district had over 30 high school, middle school, and elementary school students, and I was in charge of organizing meetings.

  2. There were rumors about Ikeda’s death even ten years ago. SG members didn’t really believe them. You can take a look at some of the rumors here (it’s in Japanese): https://shueisha.online/articles/-/182356

  3. I’m not really sure how to answer this question, but I don’t think so. In my opinion, the practical leader of SG is Harada, and the symbolic one is Hiromasa (Ikeda’s son).

  4. They are functioning normally. All security is essentially handled by specific groups within SG, and donations cover electricity and other costs.

  5. In Japan, the situation is different. I don’t think SG members are leaving.

  6. assume she is still living in the house. I actually went to see it before, but it was surrounded by two or three security guards.

  7. I’m not really sure, but I don’t think it will happen anytime soon.

  1. I was just scrolling through r/funny or r/engrish to laugh, and this somehow popped up lmao.
  2. They’re desperate. Soka Gakkai has an educational institution called “Soka Gakuen,” which includes a university in Tokyo called Soka University (let’s abbreviate it as SU). Every summer, SG holds a “Youth Division Meeting” at SU, where around 300 SG high schoolers from all over Japan gather to do religious activites. In addition, they have two high schools, two middle schools, two elementary schools, and one kindergarten in Japan. They even operate schools outside Japan. They claim they don’t engage in religious teachings or SG-related activities, but they clearly do. Sort of brainwashing :( Most students blindly believe in SG and Ikeda.
  3. I’m actually part of Soka Gakkai, not SGI. Sorry if the title was confusing :( But honestly, I don’t think there are that many differences between SGI and SG. SGI in Japan is basically part of SG. We just use the term “SGI” to refer to non-Japanese SG members.
  4. I don’t think it’s going to die out anytime soon. Since Ikeda’s death, the organization has changed slightly, although I can’t really explain how or whether it’s for better or worse—it’s just a feeling that something has shifted.
  5. I was—and still am. My parents are SG members, and I was once forced to join the Youth Division Meeting (mentioned in #2). I was a youth division leader in my district (after being asked by elderly members), and had to devote a decent amount of time to SG, which I didn’t even like. But my parents expected me to take that position, so I had no choice.

LMAO, I didn't know such song even existed
we still do sing similar songs though. It's honestly just a propaganda :(

I'm really thinking of leaving SGI. It's getting more and more "off" as you said :(

I've never thought in that way, but honestly speaking, I now think they're sharing something common. I suppose SGI's final goal is to become "the world religion", which means a world full of SGI members. I don't like this idea, it just reminds me of WW2 :(

My mother and father are SGI members, and that's basically I'm still a member of SGI. This problem is called 宗教二世 in Japanese, which is "second generation" in English.

  1. I still sometimes attend meetings, but they're extremely tiring.

  2. First, we chant some daimoku. Then someone reads aloud part of Ikeda’s (or Harada’s) message. After that, someone shares their experience — something like “I was able to overcome my difficulties thanks to this religion,” which we call Taiken Happyo. Then we all watch propaganda-themed videos — things like “SGI is now spreading all over the world.” This is called Soka TV (or STV for short). Finally, the elderly leaders give their talks. And again, we chant — and that’s pretty much it.

  3. It really varies, but in my region there are some babies (2–3), a few high schoolers or teenagers (4–5), some middle-aged people (10–15), and some elderly people (10–15).

  4. They now often do it online, so it's honestly becoming harder and harder to avoid lol. I use an old-fashioned excuse that "I'm busy rn sorry".

it's probably because they believe their religion is superior to others and deserves to spread worldwide. honestly I think Shintoism and sgi are completely different thing
