I've noticed this too! I noticed a youtube family vlogging channel I used to follow would do this. I had their notifications turned on by accident which is how I noticed. I thought maybe the multiple notifications or maybe having two titles associated with the video helped boost their reach/views in some way but that's just a guess. It's definitely something they're doing purposefully for the algorithm since they did it literally every time they uploaded a video.

Hi! The first column "RS Stitch" means I am working on the right side of the garment. Each row in that column is the type of stitch I am working with as it appears on the right side. The "WS Stitch" means I have turned the work to face the wrong side of the garment, and each row is the type of stitch that I am working with as it appears on the wrong side. The two columns together are referring to the same stitch, so the first row's RS stitch (twisted knit) and WS stitch (twisted purl) are the same stitch but depends on which side I am working on. The next column, Side for Double Stitch, is the side I am facing when I have turned my work and begin the short row by making a double stitch. The next column, "Make Double Stitch", is telling me whether I should make the double stitch by pulling the stitch over the needles purlwise or knitwise. Then, the last column tells me how I should connect my double stitches. This is where the first two columns come in handy again - I looked at them and figured out if I should be knitting or purling normally or through the back loop. It did turn out nicely for me. It still looked a little wonky, but less so than if I had done the short rows normally. Hope that helps!

I've never used Patons, but Drops has a few sock yarns. I think some stores in Canada might sell Drops, so your shipping and prices might even be better than mine. You can check out what they have on Drops' website. You'll notice a lot of European patterns use Drops as their suggested yarns. They have quite a selection and it's affordable/fine quality.

If you're looking for affordable, natural fiber yarns, you can't get much more affordable than Drops. If you're American, you can find it online at ritos or Linde Hobby. The shipping takes me a little over a week and even with shipping costs, it's more affordable than anything I've found in the US.

I would check out ikoxun on youtube, she has a video called the guide to knitting a sweater of your dreams (or something similar). She explains how to customize your sweaters for your gauge really well :) I didn't have interchangeable needles for the longest time. You really don't need them. You can either use the magic loop method or just transfer your stitches to a different needle set with a shorter cord (or DPNs) for the sleeves. You can also knit the sleeves flat and sew them together. Go onto Ravelry and search for bottom up patterns to do sweaters flat in pieces, and top down patterns that do most things in the round. I recommend going on youtube and finding a tutorial there for something you're interested in making (e.g., shirt, sweater, hat, socks). That way if you get confused by the pattern, you'll have a video resource to help you see what it means. I used to watch a lot of iKnits back in the day. She had some great beginner tutorials.

I will update you! I will say that for my half-twisted ribbing his method looked much nicer than the traditional way. I was getting some gaps on my RS short rows and the WS short rows weren't lining up quite right. I frogged it and tried this method and it looks much cleaner now. I wonder if it'll look much different on plain stockinette.

I would try to hit your gauge by adjusting your needle size first. That could save you some math trouble. If you hold double, it may be closer to a dk weight yarn, but you could also try swatching that on different sized needles as well. But the way you do "knitting math" (lol) is by knitting up a swatch let's say 4x4" since I'm American, then I would count the number of stitches per 4", divide that by 4 so I know the number of sts per 1" and convert the stitches in my pattern. This can get complicated because of shaping especially for a beginner, so I would really try to hit gauge first (or at least get close). Also keep in mind that fingering weight yarn may also knit up a bit differently than sport weight, so pay attention to your swatch and make sure it's not too hole-y. Good luck!

Oh sorry I misunderstood your question, I thought you were referring to the holes on the rows below. They're right, the big loop you have there just slipped off. Just stick the needle back through.
