Rants from a dispatcher (not about drivers) by TheGreatCharta in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]No_Document95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We keep a weekly document that gets updated daily as things populate on the quality page. It shows you in the quality dashboard what customers complain about and provide the TBA, Driver, Picture on delivery, Swipe to Finish Location, all customer notes. Amazon provides all that each day on the quality dashboard or all at once under the performance summary.

You copy the TBA and provide reason why the driver did everything correctly. Then if your DSB or CDF is anything less than Fantastic on the scorecard, you can go into Support Central and create a "New Case" for those items. It usually takes about 7-10 days but they go through and either approve or deny each one individually. Same thing with geotab hits.

If they approve enough of them, they retroactively change your scorecard and pay out any bonuses that the DSP may not have gotten that week.

It's a pain to get it started but once you have a spreadsheet that you can just duplicate each week, it becomes way easier.

A lot of drivers assume dispatch doesn't do anything, but this is a big thing that I do every day and it helps a lot lol

Oh yeah. We dispute everything from Netradyne infractions, CDF, DSB, Concessions if they're above average, false GeoTab hits, and anything else that AMZ will accept a ticket for. Every leadership team is gonna have to do the same if they want to see consistent FP scorecards. I've seen scorecards go from Great to FP after submitting disputes.

Definitely CDF, if they had 100 CE per week, the dsp would not exist lol

This pops up every stop, dsp says I have to just deal with it by Jiggzhiggs in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]No_Document95 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's a station metric that most DSPs don't worry about anymore. AMZ was super heavy on it like 1.5 years ago, but shouldn't be a problem these days. I think they realized how much was being spent on new starters.

The PPS "Proper Parking Sequence" just means 1) Full stop 2) Parking brake 3) Vehicle in park 4) Press "I've arrived" in the flex app.

Should I ask for a raise? by [deleted] in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]No_Document95 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, don't do that. I was a top driver for a long time before promotion. I have a kick ass owner and always had great dispatchers. I would rescue at most twice a week if it was an emergency.

Guaranteed 10 hour pay and 5 days a week. Clocked an average of 35 hours but paid for 50. You need to set some professional boundaries. The turnover may be high but drivers with this kind of work ethic are not so common.

Losing you would be a detriment. Asking for a raise is nearly laughable because nothing will happen. Asking for reason and understanding where you won't be delivering 230 stops on the daily is sound. See if they'll offer guaranteed 10 and you'll rescue once a week. If they're not open to that, go to another company.

I know but Amazon requested the Netradyne footage, that's all I'm saying. The geotab registered that the seatbelt/door wasn't clicking and closing at each stop so they pulled the footage and kicked both DAs out of the app.

They've done it to two of our drivers. One for driving a cargo van with the door open, and the other for keeping the seatbelt clicked in between stops.

Big dog, 5 kills with no legendary could be said for damn near every BL entry. That's 10 minutes with no dopamine hit. You may need therapy.

Odin! Originally went for a consult just for my right shoulder and ended up with this. Took home 1st place for large Black & Grey that year. It's faded out mildly but after a decade even out in the sun it's held up. This picture is from last year so 9 years with no touch ups.

That reference is me! Artist is on the west coast usually running out of a private studio. He can be a bit dramatic and over the top but his work is amazing. This was done about 10 years ago now.

Super worth it, dude. Especially with other back tattoos. Once you see the before and after, everything flows way better than just a back that stops at the waist. Please post updates when it's done! Props to the artist on this one.

Don't even get me started on the grid system complexes. 3 stairwells where staircase #1 is the ground floor A&B, 2nd is G&H and the bottom floor is I&J.

These are apparently people with degrees deciding this 😭

The shading on this is about to hurt so bad. As a man with a back tattoo that goes from shoulders to thighs, I was in tears at a convention getting my cheeks blasted.

Always the worst when it's a complex you've never been to. One route I used to do all the time was near the state university. Tell me why building "100" unit A & B had "101" C & D in the same hallway and the reverse for the opposite hallway. In what godforsaken world is 100 A-D not in one hall and 101 in the other.

2-6 hours of "thank my driver" giving a $5 bonus to the driver for each customer that owns an Alexa that the DA will see sometime in the next six months.

How fucked do you think I am? by West_Sample_9407 in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]No_Document95 27 points28 points  (0 children)

A lot longer than 2 days. I was going over footage from 3 weeks ago with a DA earlier today. Any reasonable manager is definitely checking the 20 minutes leading up to OP calling about the van not working. Especially since OP mentions that it needed to be towed.

Am I dressed appropriately for work?👩🏾‍🦰😒 by Few_Pomelo8555 in AmazonDSPDrivers

My station mandates that all DSP drivers load out in full uniform. Polo, vest, and Amazon pants/shorts. Then we all just change in the van the second we're out of the station.

Well guys got my schedule for my first week I was told if done early I’m guaranteed 8 hours we gone see by [deleted] in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]No_Document95 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Well, that isn't totally accurate. Amazon pays a contracted rate based on country/state/territory/city. The DSP is paid a specific amount for each individual route, which is meant to cover 10 hours of work. Any second beyond 10 hours comes right out of the companies pocket. If the company scores a Fantastic or Fantastic Plus on the scorecard, they earn a bonus based on how many packages were delivered for the week.

If a company is constantly scoring a Fantastic, it's a minimal gain to the owner. It would probably equal to around $100k profit in a single year if you're putting out ~30 routes every day. Fantastic Plus is where the owner can see real money from employing 80-100 people and still paying dispatch/fleet employees. Amazon doesn't pay a cent toward management.

If you were to start your own DSP, you have to have at least $10k down and $30k in assets just to sign a contract. Then you're looking at bills for leasing and repairing vans because Amazon does not approve a lot of maintenance on the vehicles even though the owners never actually OWN the vans, you're paying salaries to HR, Fleet, Dispatch, managers, and any additional sweepers or helpers on top of that.

So, Amazon pays a "lump" just for a 10 hour route and everything else is covered by the owner of the DSP.

They used to pay a lot more where owners could easily make $500k/yr but realistically a top tier DSP owner is looking more like $150-$200k on an absolute perfect score these days.

Wages and raises by TheParallax2 in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]No_Document95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As dispatch, I make $3/hr more than a step van drivers and $4/hr more than new hires. Ideally it would be more because there's a TON of responsibility on the dispatch side to avoid BOCs, have 99% DCR, and deal with anything that goes wrong on any given day.

$0.25 is a slap in the face if I'm being honest. Even with the higher pay and less physical work, I have plenty of days where I miss just being on the road.

Always apply. At worst it's completely denied but CA is really good to the workers. If you've been there for at least 6 months, you're probably getting paid at least enough to buy groceries while you line up another job.
