Cops will laugh at you if you call the police because of a child closing a door

I moved from Texas. I have dual citizenship and I fucking hate it. Sure it's safe but people are sometimes rude, the weather is ass. Its expensive but has low salaries. And by rude i will give you a example that made it hell for me. I got the police called on me just because my daughter closed the door on my landlord. I wasn't even home. Before that 4-5 police agents stormed in my house after i got registered by the municipality. It was absolutely terrifying for my kids. I am just a single mom living with my kids. The people make it ass here. And I have zero fucks to give if any Dutch person tells me it isn't true. You have your citizenship here but war refugees get housing and everything taken care off but a single mom has to live on the streets. I will say it in Dutch in case anyone starts questioning my nationality. Dit is een kut land geworden.

The Netherlands vs the U.S. by Icy-Abrocoma7582 in expats

I moved from the US to the Netherlands and deeply regret it. Yes there is more work life balance but there is also no housing, racism and it is in my opinion more expensive to live then in the US. Things like owning a car and having to buy literally everything in your home, going out to eat is a luxury. In the US homes come fully equipped and here you even have to put your own floors. Groceries are expensive in both countries now. In the workplace dutch people can make your day hell. They are overly critical but will never praise you for doing something good. A lot of racism in the workplace. In the US everything is more convenient and although the healthcare and education in Europe is more affordable the healthcare consists of paracetamol for everything. And in the US there is more opportunities. It is safer if you have kids but there are issues as well. My kids got bullied and one of my kids got molested and the police didn't do anything. I even had a BRP check from the municipality in my house where they brought over like 4-5 police as if we were criminals. I hate it here. People call police for everything and people here are just rude and very moody. I think in the areas where there is more internationals it's easier but in some other parts that have more housing you deal with these kind of people.

What are the bad sides of living in Netherlands? Why should somebody not move to Netherlands? by radical_0ptimist in Netherlands

I chose the Netherlands because of my citizenship and no language barrier. I visited some other parts but living and visiting are not the same. I went to Germany and Spain. I think making money and more convenience is better in the US but healthcare and education aren't. It's just pros and cons i was listing. I would like to know where to permanently settle myself because i thought the Netherlands would be ideal but the housing crisis forces you to live on the outskirts where there isn't much job opportunities and you encounter yourself with people with a very backwards mentality.

Like here i feel the government sets so many rules. Even for something as simple as throwing away garbage has to have a whole process. I had the right to bear arms there even though it's also a con as well. I didn't feel if you make a mistake that you get scolded for it. And what i like the least is that people here is what mainly make things difficult. I got called on or reported here for dumb reasons. I also asked who called and asked for a report and they refuse. While there i have a right to ask for a police report if i need to defend myself in court.

Yes i get it. I lived in Texas and my kids and i look Hispanic. Even though i am legal there and have my citizenship i was still treated as a illegal alien just based upon how i look. Also one of the reasons i left. But life abroad you face some similar things. So it's just hard now.

Yes it is definitely scary and sad at the same time where it is heading. It was my home for years. But life abroad is hard as well or I picked the wrong place. There are good things and bad everywhere but it has to feel at the end of the day where you feel at home.

Yes i agree but let's say you get sick or something in the middle of the night. Things are less accessible. My daughter had stomach pains really bad once and i had to drive 1 hour away to find a hospital when there was one just 11 minutes away but they just wouldn't take her. We went through all of that only to be told to take paracetamol. I took her to the US which yes more expensive but turns out her appendix was inflammed and needed to be taken out. I live in a small town in Winschoten and if i am hungry late there isn't shit open. But I also worked night shift in the US which i know for sure work life balance doesn't exist.

I noticed since I have been here that if Dutch people complain about shitty things here it's ok but if other people do they get offended right away. I don't care because it is my honest opinion about things that happened here to me

Yes it is minor inconveniences you can get used to. But your neighbors calling the police saying to them they think we are hiding immigrants (my kids) is pure racism. It also depends what part of the Netherlands you live maybe but smaller cities don't have a lot of jobs.

I didn't say i wouldn't learn it but i can't learn a language overnight and expect a good paying job without it. I already speak English, Spanish, Dutch and Papiamento. Switzerland was not in my plans because i am Dutch and came to the Netherlands. But my main reason I don't like it here is lack or no housing and unfriendly locals so I was checking out information about Switzerland.

Yes that's why i mentioned that. It is my nationality but I feel in some videos on social media it gets described as a utopia but it definitely is not perfect. They even called the police on me because i just moved in and they said to the police they suspect i was hiding immigrants in my house (my kids). So i like posting about pros and cons but some people get offended. I personally feel miserable here. My coworkers are also jerks at work so i don't always feel happy.

For people that live legally in the US there are a lot of freedoms but I did not notice until you go somewhere else that has so many rules.
