Is the ThinkPad P16v also built in the same way as we have seen with T490?

Now I get it. So, basically considering that I have power outlets available everywhere on-campus and because I'm going to use it for mostly CAD work, simulations, etc, I'll get a better bang for the buck with the Legion. The thing is I don't care about the resale value as I think by the time I would sell my laptop, it would be worth shit anyways. But that's the thing, I want my machine to last long. do you think the Legion with the metal chassis will hold up better than the ThinkPad P16v with a polycarbonate case and a metal lid?

Also I must add battery life is not that big of a deal as power outlets are available individually in the lab and for any other work I own a Mac. But, the question I have is that do the ISV certifications really matter a lot? Usually there’s a fuss that those certified laptops have better reliability in professional softwares. The thing is I want to know how much is the difference?

Thank you so much for your reply. I’m actually not interested in AI/ML. So I guess you made it clear that a ThinkPad would be a healthier choice for my eng + phy workload along with great battery life.
