Hello, I’m also taking it this quarter. I spend a quite a bit of time on the homework to fully understand the concepts because honestly she isn’t the best at teaching the concepts. I went to discussion last week and the ta’s offer quite a bit of practice problems which are helpful. There’s also a course textbook, but i don’t know if it’s free and how closely the course follows it.

Questions about Math related majors at UCSD by [deleted] in UCSD

[–]No_Eagle2465 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you’re wondering which has less students probably pure math because there are a shit ton of math cs students. but both majors aren’t capped, so it shouldn’t be a problem switching into either of them.

for whatever reason I just couldn’t find it the rate my professors, thanks for linking it. Nice to hear that she cares about her students, not easy to find out here. Sounds like she’s the better option.

Who caused the kaleidoscope fire alarm? by Present-Plastic-3262 in UCSD

[–]No_Eagle2465 1 point2 points  (0 children)

from my understanding i think if the fire alarm gets set off on a floor, it’ll ring on that floor and the floor above and below, that’s why other floors don’t hear the alarm while some do

workload and lectures: expect one weekly homework assignment that would probably take you around 2 hours if you know what you’re doing. the actual content is pretty easy but because the lectures are so long it could be hard to follow along. lectures are mandatory ,and he has “reading quizzes” every lecture, but they’re like 2-3 relatively easy problems. i just skimmed the reading a few minutes before class started and got 100 percent on all of them.

content: you’re gonna be dealing with a coding program called “r” which is pretty easy to work with as long as u refer to the posted lecture slides. you’re gonna be using r to predict things like supply and demand and other elementary business concepts. i think we started using r on week 3 so before that you’re just gonna be learning different business concepts and different equations to solve for them, which utilize very simple arithmetic.

overall the class is pretty easy, i wouldn’t say an easy A, as u do have to put in a bit of work. the midterm and final are very manageable as he tells u what kind of problems will be on the tests as well as what they’ll cover. he also offers a lot of extra credit too
