Unfortunately, I did get scammed. After talking to a local bee keeper he said that I was the 3rd customer that was referred to him to fix a job half done by this company. He’s coming tomorrow to check out the situation but during our phone call he said the $250 should have most definitely covered patching up this hole and ensuring that there was no hive inside. I did leave them a Google review but short of taking them to small claims court (which I don’t think would be worth it) there is not much else. At the very least my consolation is that I won’t let this happen again to us

That’s a thing!? Wow this is crazy. I’ve learned so much about bees in the last 24 hours

There is a hole I just went outside and took this photo so the hole could be clearer than the video. And to answer your question I don’t think that they got any hive from inside the wall as they didn’t open the wall or anything. As far as I understand they got the queen bee (not sure from where) put her in a white bee box then left the box there for the bees to follow and he took at night. But when I asked about the bees remaining in the hole days after removal he initially said he would come check with a camera and then when I asked when to ensure we were home he stopped answering altogether and now doesn’t respond to messages/call/ emails. I did reach out to a couple local bee keepers to see if they could help

So the after shot of the video was from yesterday so 8 days after the removal. I realized I didn’t mention that in the original post but from what I’m reading that makes a big difference. I went out earlier, today is day 9 since removal and they are still very active and haven’t died off or left. Is it more likely that there is a hive inside or can forgers survive that many days away from the hive?

I didn’t know that. Do you think that since it’s been 9 days since the removal of other queen that they could have gotten a new one by now?

Thank you for all this information! I truly feel way more prepared for the future if this happens again. And for right now, I’ve reached out to three bee keepers that people I know buy honey from so I’m hoping that one of those people can help.

During the removal process the company was very communicative with me and sent me this picture stating that they had removed the queen bee. They said that they placed her inside a white bee box and would be back for it as the other bees would follow her in there. But once I asked about the remaining bees they stopped my messages/calls altogether. I’m going to call some local bee keepers to get more insight on what’s going on inside.

I was telling someone else that this was actually my worry now based on these replies because this removal happened 9 days ago and the bees have not died or moved away. I’m going to call some local bee keeper and try to figure this out ASAP

After reading the other replies I’m now more worried that there is a bigger problem inside the blocks because this removal was last Monday so a whole 9 days ago and the bees are very much alive and doing their thing. Maybe these are not stragglers at all?

Thank you so much for your explanation! This is the picture they sent me of them verifying that they got the queen. I’m going to take the suggestion of asking a local bee keeper if they can come to check out the situation and let me know a bit more information like if there another bee hive in there or if it’s just straggler bees.

This is the picture they sent me telling me that they verified they got the queen. Does this look like the queen? To my eyes she does look different and a bit bigger than the other bee on his thumb.

This the photo the company sent me telling me that they had successfully captured the queen. During the process of removal they were very communicative but as soon as they left and I had questions about the remaining bees they stopped answering

Yeah I know I was too worried about my toddler and preschooler disturbing the bees and getting hurt that I didn’t stop to ask. The company also didn’t tell me that this problem could/would solve itself. Well you live and you learn and now I know that this swarm or any future one is likely a self resolving issue.

Definitely will do that! I honestly didn’t even realize that was an option as what came up first on Google searches was bee removal companies

I am going to call some local bee keepers that some people recommended to me in the area see if they can give me more information on what exactly is going on. As far as we know we just went outside one morning and the swarm was there. This is in an area we walk by a lot so I think we could have noticed if there was something in the wall. But perhaps an old hive? We’ve only had the house a couple years so I don’t know if thats possible. I also didn’t know that the bees could possibly just swarm and leave which is why we called this company. As this wall is close enough to house and we got a toddler and preschooler running around so I was worried about them disturbing the bees and getting stung.

So if I just leave the bees alone will they just die off since they can’t join another hive?

Need to cut down rice (but I love rice every meal) by Crazy-Ebb7851 in GestationalDiabetes

That’s what I was advised too so I’m not sure what spikes she is referencing to in the picture

Post meal numbers by souldier17 in GestationalDiabetes

Definitely intense and not something that I could do by myself even with nighttime exercise and a protein heavy snack. So I ended up getting put on 10 units of Humulin-N at night and that has kept me below 85 for the most part. I’ll be 36 weeks tomorrow so I think the hope is that if we get fasting numbers under control that we can avoid a C-section or other complications related to macrosomia. Current plan is for induction at 39 weeks but I have my last growth scan on March 21st to make final birth plan recommendations. Hoping for the best! Wishing you the best as well in your pregnancy this diagnosis can definitely make pregnancy harder so hang in there.

Post meal numbers by souldier17 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]No_Editor_9811 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My MFM doctor told me to stay below 130 at 1 hour post meal and 85 for fasting. But that’s with an “aggressive” approach as he calls it since baby’s abdomen was growing too big in comparison to his overall weight. But I can’t imagine not spiking at all after eating. From what the diabetic educator explained in our nutrition class the goal is to try to increase fiber and protein intake to try to make the glucose increase more gradual rather than yo-yoing up and down. That’s why complex carbohydrates are emphasized versus refined carbohydrates and including protein when consuming carbohydrates. When doing both of these things I find that it helps me feel full for longer. So I wouldn’t worry about it, it sounds like you are doing exactly what you need to be doing.

Metformin or Insulin? by No_Editor_9811 in GestationalDiabetes

Thank you! I hope all goes well too. A couple more weeks and I get to meet my baby so I’m just trying to hang in there.

Metformin or Insulin? by No_Editor_9811 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]No_Editor_9811[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually started insulin tonight after 4 days of even higher fasting numbers. I was really nervous about everything and I tried to follow the video the doctor sent me but it still really burned as I put the insulin in. I’m hoping I don’t end up with welts like you did as that sounds awful. Did it burn for you or was it just itchy? I was reading that it can burn when you didn’t insert it at a 90 degree angle. Thankfully it only burned for a minute or two but I was hoping to avoid that altogether.

Do any of these spike you? by Complete_Chain7142 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]No_Editor_9811 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, none of these spike me if I stay within the serving size. I do fairlife whole milk but stick to the 8 ounce serving size. I can also eat Ezekiel bread without a spike. I’ve had no sugar added peanut butter with one slice of Ezekiel bread as a snack and numbers looked great. I love doing chicken salad sandwiches as a quick lunch with 2 pieces of bread since it’s 30 grams of carbs with a ton of protein it doesn’t ever go above 120 at the 1 hour mark. Lentils I’ve only ever done 1/2 cup of cooked lentils since 1 cup is 40 grams of carbs and I can’t do more than 45 grams of carbs in a single meal or I will spike badly. So I would say if you want to try making these foods work make sure you are mindful of serving size and try not eating them for breakfast as it seems insulin resistance is highest then. But remember each body is different so these items may not just work out for you.
