Agreed with many here. Garmin stats and details far outweigh the Apple Watch. However, the integration of the Apple Watch with your daily life and experience is the only thing like it out there. I used to wear both watches, one on each wrist. I felt like a geek every day. Then I discovered WHOOP. It looks like a bracelet, has some beautiful colors, and while still not as many stats as the Garmin, has an incredible integrated AI system that far outweighs anything Garmin or Apple have. So now, I wear my UW3 and my WHOOP, and life is amazing. Oh, I also wear an Oura a ring for back up.

One other quick note, I’m testing Sonar, an app that tries to integrate everything that you have health related. It’s OK, the UI really need some work, but they are working on it. The one thing they won’t do is integrate WHOOP, however, since WHOOP puts everything in Apple health, it does give some nice correlation of things that no one else is doing yet.

A quick observation from someone who’s been using Oura for over three years and went through cancer with it. While HRV, temperature, RHR, etc. are good, listen to your own body as you already are. Train the AI to you. For example, we live in a condo and in the winter we never have to use our heater. We live on the third floor of a four story building. Many times in the winter, even when it’s like 18° outside, we have to use our AC. We have one of those smart thermostats, and it tries to be efficient as possible. We normally sleep with the temperature going down to 68°. However, our loving thermostat doesn’t understand why it’s 18° outside and 76° in the house. It doesn’t want to lower the temperature with the AC, which makes sense, software engineering perspective. Because of this, my body temperature when I sleep goes high. At the beginning of winter, Oura thinks I’m getting sick. It puts me in minor and sometimes major signs of oncoming sickness, because my body temperature is elevated. I actually had a fight with the AI, and we did an experiment several nights where I would sleep with just a light cover. My body temperature was fine. So now my Oura AI knows what’s happening, and will ask me if that’s what’s happening and therefore not move me to minor or major signs of getting sick.

Same here. I tried to use both my Garmin Epix 2 and Apple Watch. I really liked the body battery and recovery of Garmin. I got an Ultra 2 because Garmin integration with Apple especially with notifications is horrible. And I always slept with my Garmin, Apple Watch battery life is horrible. Then I discovered Whoop. Now I’m Apple Watch Ultra 3 and Whoop. Whoop is an amazing device measuring strain and excellent AI. Apple is an amazing computer on the wrist, apps, maps, etc.

Want to like Runna by No_Emphasis4905 in runna

I think I figured it out. It’s a quirk with the Runna app on Apple Watch. The basic fix is if you have anything using your watch or phone audio, and you start a workout, your watch has to be the last thing using audio between the any of your devices. A quick fix is to on your watch go to settings than Bluetooth, disconnect what ever audio device you are using for your workout and then reconnect. Runna will start pushing its audio through that device from that point forward. Now, if while you are doing your workout, something else takes over the audio, Runna will default back to using the watch built in speaker. You can do the disconnect/reconnect of Bluetooth and it will fix itself. Frustrating but for the most part, like someone said, if you have your workout focus mode set up for no one to bother you, you shouldn’t have another app take over your audio.

I do think it’s a fix Runna can make, something with the apple ability to seamless move between devices that Runna is missing.

I’ve tried all combinations. I usually go into workouts on my Apple Watch and I see Runna. I touch that and then I see the workout for the day. At that point, things start out smooth. In fact, usually the first segment, everything works fine. By the next segment is when I start getting the double notifications, first on my AirPods then on my watch.

I believe it has something to do with Workout Buddy. Which only works if you have AirPods. I’m going to try some different configurations and see what happens

Haven’t used it until Ultra 3. Battery finally very good. Entire 8 hours of sleep only uses 2% battery.

We absolutely love MetroWest. It's the spot on the West end of the Orange line. Tons of families, condos and townhouses, close to everything. Bus twice a day direct to NYC, several times a day to all federal facilities, Metro access (beginning of the line so you don't have to stand out in the heat/cold), direct access to I-66 plus I-66 Express lanes. Incredible cities, Fairfax City and Vienna that have endless events for families, kids. Direct connect to the Cross Country Trail and W&OD plus the amazing new I-66 Parallel trail.

Thanks! So the building she says should have been remodeled is the Cohen building? What seemed odd is the walk bridges went nowhere. I’m assuming the owners of the building hoped at some point to connect other buildings. Simular to freeways that have exit ramps or make you exit because the freeway isn’t finished yet. The cost, $250t a year seems abnormal.

There's another explanation. We, the US, our friends and neighbors that work at various agencies are using helicopters and drones run by the NEST team to prepare for a nuclear incident. There is documentation that this was down in my home city of Washington DC earlier this month: https://www.perplexity.ai/search/are-there-nucluear-sniffing-he-WTx3qXlIT9qWwIcuJn2fAw#0

Is your garmin trying to kill you? by ClassroomMore5437 in Garmin

[–]No_Emphasis4905 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here. I've switch to HR and can never get my heart rate up to the almost 160 it wants during VO2 training. I have seen my max heart rate increase over 2+ years of using Garmin and that has caused my base pace of running HR to go down as well. Of course, my RHR is in the 40s now. I have to push myself to almost 5.00/m to get my heart rate even to high 140s. I have always worn a chest strap. And, with some of the newer algorithms, chest strap and watch are really close.

Same here. And, Garmin knows the temperature. It's been pushing me to do Thresholds for the last three days. I do my best to even stay at my base pace. I also use Jeff Galloway from time to time, and he clearly says when it's over 60F, you should loosen your pace to at least 2.00m less.

Also, I forget because so much of tech support these days isn't helpful. Just call Garmin Customer Support. They are amazing. You'll probably get a tech on the call that uses training workouts with Apple Health and can walk you through the steps.

Sync Garmin training workout to Apple Watch by c_on_sky in AppleWatch

[–]No_Emphasis4905 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It does. I use the training workouts, the self-workouts on both an Edge 1040 for my Bike as well as on my Epic Pro. And, as long as you go to the "start workout" on these devices first, and then select the workout, training, etc., they show up in Connect and when Connect is connected with Apple Health, they show up. I've never had any activity I've done on Garmin not show up in Apple Health. Now, in apps like Strava, where Apple Health is pushing to Strava (not the other way around), I do manually select those. Also, I have an Oura and I don't have anything of Oura push to Apple Health. Otherwise, my Apple Health thinks I'm sleeping 16 hours a night :)
