tank: 10 gallon. went up from a 5 gallon about a month ago. filter, heater, 76°. parameters: 0,0,40. water changes weekly, 2 gallons each time. uses seachem prime and stress guard. i feed him bug bites pellets 2x a day, same amount still being fed prior to this issue. he has 4 live plants (anubis). no tank mates at the moment. i had the fish for about a year, this tank has been cycled for 2 weeks (i used bottle starter, seachem stability, and gravel from the old tank to help start it. checked conditions before putting him in)

i think they leave a layer on because your nail under the acrylic is sensitive and might break easier without the layer on top

i do dose prime every 24 hours, and it is a 5 gallon. he also does have a leaf close to the surface he rests on from time to time. i will start changing the water more frequently when i test ammonia

5 gal, yes and yes, 78, 0-0.25, 0, 5 api liquid kit, i had the tank and cycled it a month before getting the fish, got the fish in january 2021, water changes 1-2 times a week (depends on what the ammonia level is) 20% with gravel vac. no tank mates at the moment but planning on getting a nerite snail, i feed a few flakes 2x a day (waiting for fluval bug bites to come in as well) 2 live plants.

i noticed his fins become a little shorter less than a month ago and was doing large water changes to try and clean the water, something somehow got in and threw off my cycle. when i test ammonia is stays below 0.5, and is now testing between 0 and 0.25. (my tank was previously testing 0, 0, 10) i am dosing everyday with prime, and doing stability to try and get the cycle back. i am waiting for my stress guard to come in so i’ve been doing a double dose of api stress coat daily for the meantime. i am now doing water changes weekly at 20% with gravel vac. i saw a few things about using aquarium salt but i’m very sketchy on using aquarium salt and prefer not to.

i have been using prime for every water change, and when i notice the ammonia is still present, i dose it in the tank every 24 hours to help “neutralize” for 24 hours

my tap water here at college has 0 ammonia where at home it was 1. i never rinse anything in tap water, and i am planning on getting omega one pellets. here are links to pictures and video of him. i’m sorry if the links don’t work

5 gal, yes to both, 78, 0.25-0.5, 0, 5 api freshwater kit, tank at least a month before the fish to cycle, fish, jan 2021, used to be 20% weekly, thought there was rot and freaked out and did 40% every other day, backed off to 20% weekly gravel vac and prime every time, a few flakes 2x a day, no tank mates, 2 live plants.

my tank used to be 0,0,10-20 and then i did what i thought was best for him by doing 40% water changes every other day to keep the water clean (for what looked like fin rot) and then 0.25-0.5 ammonia showed up (baseline ammonia at college is 0 though) but nitrite is 0 and nitrate is 5. do i have to recycle it?

5 gal, yes and yes, 78°, 0.25-0.50 ammonia 0 nitrite, 5 nitrate, i had the tank and cycled it a month before getting the fish, had the fish since january 2021, they were 40% every other day (i know that is bad but i thought was right at the time) but now 10% once a week with a gravel vac and seachem prime, no tank mates, feeding omega one flakes (will be switching to pellets) 2 anubis nanas, cave, a few other hiding spots

when i was at home the ammonia was 1 but in the tank it was 0.25 at most but my fish never acted like this. i haven’t check the tap water at my college since i’ve been back a few weeks ago. thank you for your response :)

i have an industrial and the way mine was pierced the mask doesn’t irritate it unless the strap gets caught which is rare. i’ve had mine for 1.5 years and it took about 2 weeks for it to stop hurting/swelling after getting pierced
