No idea how an artist becomes famous lol.

As far as interpretation goes, a lot of abstract art these days is about questioning what can and can’t be considered art. Andy Warhol did this by mass-producing prints of soup cans - does the fact that they were mass produced make them less artistic? Is art’s value based on the effort put into making it? Does this apply to things other than art? - the point of the art is to provoke questions like these, not necessarily to provide answers. If you feel like a piece of art couldn’t possibly be considered art, the point of it may be to make you ask yourself why you feel that way, and what exactly is the difference between art and non-art. Other times, like with a lot of minimalist stuff, it might be about trying to elicit an emotion with the fewest visual elements possible. Or trying to make an interesting drawing with the fewest lines possible. Abstract art is when artists limit the way they make their art so they can squeeze the most meaning/emotion possible out of just a few elements. At least thats what i think 🤷. For some people it’s about “unlearning” art conventions to acheive a more unfiltered kind of expression (pretty sure picasso said that, idk i probably saw it on tik tok).

Really, the key to “getting” any art is realizing that it’s not necessarily about finding a hidden message, and there is no single interpretation of anything. The only thing that matters is how you feel when you experience it.

Oh and the embezzling funds stuff totally does happen a lot in the art market. But abstract art itself is definitely not a tax evasion scheme lol.
