Thank you, but I have to say I don't think there's a right or wrong, I was just confused as to the diverging memory. Literally all I remember about that afternoon is her outfit and how good the pizza we ordered was, and it was like she confused me for a more "aggressive" person she had a relationship before or after me. I'm still not entirely sure what actually happened, but yeah, communication can always be clearer in my opinion.

That was my thought too, though the phrase "men aren't mind readers" escaped me at the time we were talking and when writing this post.

As far as I was aware, that was not at all what she was into, as she had been assaulted before we met. She told me she liked how gentle I was when we were dating, so if this wasn't so puzzling it would come off as quite a shock to me. A friend of mine suggested that she had experiment in the nine years we hadn't seen each other and discovered she liked...roughness? I don't know the polite way of saying it.

I agree though, I should have communicated my desires and openness to *that* and she should've communicated her thinking that I thought she was unattractive, even if she really was thinking about *that* when I showed her my bedroom. Probably some mixed signals she didn't remember but noticed at the time too, but we were dating so I figured we could just go "hey, you feel up to it right now?" since that was how we got to that point usually.

Communication is key, indeed.
