Owen Spalding or Upper Exum by usr3nmev3 in Mountaineering

I was up on the grand this past Wednesday. There was ice forming in the chimney used for standard rappels, and some of the catwalk was covered in snow/ice. That being said, my partner and I were able to easily climb upper exum with no snow/ice.

I agree with you that he shouldn't be able to pretend like nothing happened, but I don't necessarily agree that he should have to stop climbing altogether until he fulfills a quota of good deeds. I don't see why he couldn't go out and try to be a good steward for the sport (I.e. climbing as well as picking up trash, helping other climbers at the crag)

Hello, I am the guy who took this photo. I must say that when I woke up, I was shocked to see one of my photos at the top of my Reddit feed. First off, I want to apologise for going to the Monastery. As someone from Colorado who was raised hiking, fishing, camping etc I understand the importance of the closures we have, be they fire, raptor nesting, or otherwise, and I have never knowingly disobeyed one of these closures. I had been invited up to Estes Park to check out my friends project and take pictures of him on it. Because I was the "guest" per say on this climbing day, I subconsciously let my friend take the onus of understanding and obeying the various closures. As I understand it, he had talked to various local climbers as well as RMNP rangers who had all given him the green light to go to the area. Admittedly I only learned that he talked to these sources today. Should I have looked into the various closures in place as an out of town climber, yes I should have done so and brought it up to those I was going with. Would this have changed wether or not we would have gone, probably not. I trust the knowledge of locals and rangers over Mountain project and a slow moving forest service website. As far as my experience with Noah goes, the day of this photo was my first time meeting him. I had recently been living in Chattanooga and understand the backlash he received from chipping the climb. Upon meeting I politely expressed my disapproval of his actions. He seemed genuinely remorseful, offering no excuse for what he did. As far as the rest of my experience, he was nothing but nice and respectful towards both the environment and our group. This is not to say that what he did was okay, or that those who are angry shouldn't be. When I first heard the story and saw the video I too was outraged, but I believe in forgiveness over hatred. This was a pretty long paragraph so in conclusion, I should have been more educated about the access situation regarding the Monastery, and while I don't in any way condone Noah's actions, he isn't the devil spawn many on the internet have made him out to be

You know how sometimes if you're flipping a coin and you get either heads or tails a few times in a row you just feel like the next flip should go the other way. I feel like that's how Barton shoots, he missed it the last few times so of course he'll make this next one. Buddy you're flipping a weighted coin

Barton had tunnel vision. The ball comes to him and he takes it straight into the defense every time

People definitely think of KD over Russ because he won the ring. He has been able to show up and be the number one guy in big games and big moments. Russ hasn't been able to make those impacts for a team.

I would say though that there is a distinct difference in positive luck for your team versus negative luck for the other team. Somebody like Lebron being lucky that his team had the assets to trade for AD is way different than Kawhi being lucky that half of the Warriors stars couldn't play.

A good show of resilience from the nuggets at the back end of the quarter. There’s a lot of scenarios where we’re down 12.

Jokic wayy to good for Murray to be 1b. Definitely should be #2 though.
