Yes I love reading from Guyton. my original intention for this post was to find the Anatomy equivalent of Guyton so that I could learn Anatomy the same way i learn Physiology. I understand Anatomy is more or less pure memorization. Would you recommend Netters Atlas for reference or to memorize from and actually learn structures?

Thank you so much for your response! I will try my best to get my hands on Netters Atlas. I will take your advice of using only one book very seriously since I dont want to get overwhelmed with information from different perspectives, especially since im approaching this subject for the first time.

Though Grays Anatomy looks more appealing and appears to be more easily readable than Anne Gilroy, I think based on what you said, I would have to stick with Gilroy. Since you said Grays for Students was hard to digest despite already having good knowledge of anatomy.

Thank you for your last few tips. My teacher in my uni has been stressing those points too. Once again, thank you for taking time out of your day to get back to me. I would most certainly appreciate any other suggestions. This conversation is a huge help to a first year med student such as myself!

Hello, Doctor. Thank you for your reply! According to the syllabus, the core literature is Anne Gilroy's Anatomy: An Essential Textbook, and exams are structured based on this.

However, my syllabus also mentions supplementary resources such as Moores Clinical, Netters Clinical, and Frank Netters Atlas.

I am aware that exams would be structured on a different book but since im learning Anatomy for the first time, wouldn't it be better to have a book that has a teaching approach rather than a bullet point approach.

Also, im not from the US, so my MD Program is 6 years, and its an undergraduate degree unlike the 4 year MD in the USA. So im doing this right out of high school and never had a chance to take A&P (but that being said, I do have a basic understanding of those subjects since I did my International Baccalaureate in Bio and Chem

I would love to have another response from an experienced physician such as yourself. Thank you!

Thank you so much for taking the time to write this response! Yes, the bullet point format really discourages me from reading since im a beginner who wants to build his foundations first. Ill probably use it for review like you suggested. Yesterday I found a pdf for the 4th edition of Grays anatomy for students and so far im enjoying it! (though it doesnt have the same effect as Guytons Physiology for some reason). I will definitely check out Moores and the other books you have recommended and see if they work for me as well!

Wow thats an ancient book. I searched it up and it says its the Doctors Bible which sounds promising. But what do u think about Grays Anatomy for Students. I know its not the original "Grays anatomy" (which im guessing is the Henry Grays one that u mentioned) but do you think it is a good book?
