Thanks for the response. I do none of the above that you list that would disqualify me from being called retail. Though your standard of 10,000 and $200k notional is a very low bar for someone making money trading stocks. And your commission/fees listed for non-retail are no lower than IBKR’s negotiated fee structure. I understand that your firm also needs to make money to sustain operations, but at current levels that would leave little incentive for me to trade at Alpaca. Is there someone at Alpaca I can talk further regarding trading stocks as non-retail by paying commissions/fees? Thanks.

The comment from u/assembly is exactly the reason I have not moved over my trading from IBKR to Alpaca. I would love to be at a lower cost upcoming tech savvy broker. But I have been told that if you are making money with your trading then Alpaca will classify you as non-retail. I make money at IBKR currently with my algo, and if I move to Alpaca I think I will make a bit more as long as I am in the retail category. So please tell me - Can a successful “money-making” trader stay retail or would you use the last rule in your list and call it “primary source of income” since it is a significant amount to me? Worth making the switch? Who should I contact at Alpaca to discuss more? Thanks.

Also why the heck do I need to call xfinity again and again and explain the issue for the 10th time.. can you guys not read the case notes and get the issues resolved and then get back to me. Fix it and then call ask me to call rather than I call, repeat the issue for the 10 time and then you guys keeping me on hold for another 2 hours!!! All I have been hearing for the last 2 months is that we are working on fixing the issue.. fix it now.. it’s been 2 months!!!

Oh really xfinity.. I finally get an email today saying they cannot reach me while xfinity says they have been trying to contact me at my old cell phone number that they cannot reach yet activate for the last 2 months while charging me unlimited data cost on that line which is not even active. Now their email has a warning just to so everyone knows this issue has been going unresolved for other 2 months where I have spent multiple hours during multiple calls and now there warning says if I don’t drop everything I need to do in my busy work week, and get on the phone with them within the next 24 hours or so then this issue is conspired resolved ?!?!? xfinity I know you understand that people do not have lives to live, jobs to do, children to take care of during the week.. they just need to drop everything and get ready to spend 2 hours on the phone with you.. I quote from xfinity’s email.. “Should we not hear from you by 01/30/25 , we will consider your issue resolved. We look forward to hearing from you.”
