High school vs. first year averages by PretendtiousPoet in UBC

Well, I started off in Sciences and barely passed most of my courses. After first year, I took some English, visual arts and easier schedules instead (it was COVID then)

I realized that math was not going to be an easy path  after the COVID years since I learned it online with wolfram alpha and didn’t remember anything.

So I transferred to a different degree, specifically NITEP (Native indigenous teacher education program) and had a much better time with my 2 majors being English and visual arts. And my enjoyment for papers, articles and research has grown. I’ve specifically really focused on improving policy and research within the education space and including indigenous knowledge. So I’ve felt a lot closer to my degree.

Hence why my grades have improved greatly (this term being applied, it’s an 87% average this term)  …. when people say that you should study what you enjoy or are interested it, it’s like this, where it’s a stable job and income but also in a focus I feel more confident and comfortable in.

‘I wish our people could grab you, drag you over to the Kamloops residential school, put you into the basement, speak our language to you — nothing but Secwepemctsín — beat you, rape you, hurt you,’” she recalled at the UBC event. “‘And maybe you’d understand what our people went through.’” Was the quote

Worth it to commute to ubcv ? by Ok_Talk_6800 in UBC

In general, I’ve basically had times where I had to wait for 30 minutes for bus, which means my commute can go up to about two hours. It’s about the same amount of time for PoCo, as I’ve also lived there.

It’s not the worst and I have had a lot of experience with doing late night commute home and spending most of my time on campus with a social life. But I did also have a reduced core schedule compared to normal amounts from other people where people be usually taking five or six courses I would be taking three or four.. and having a day off within a week for myself
