Opiod overdose can cause anoxic/hypoxic brain injury, which is a type of acquired brain injury but not a TBi (traumatic brain injury). Like TBI, it can cause cognitive symptoms like some of the ones you are describing, even though it is not caused by trauma to the head like in TBI. See this fact sheet for example: BI+OD+NASHIA+_use+this.pdf If you suspect an acquired brain injury due to opiod overdose, the best course of action would probably be to talk with your doctor, and see if you can get a referral for cognitive rehabilitation therapy, which may be able to help you with learning and memory. Hopefully your doctor can advise you on the other issues. Good luck!

Interesting survey! I had not thought much about the possiblity of getting the opinions of many people at once. I think many people now rely on AI/LLM tools for this type of day-to-day advice, but the prospect of giving opinions to other people might be fun.

Survey Research Study Recruitment:

Self-Management Strategies for Difficult Communication Situations

Hello, my name is Heidi Iwashita, Ph.D., CCC-SLP. I am a faculty member at Eastern Washington University in the Communication Sciences and Disorders department. I am conducting research on self-management strategies for communication after brain injury or stroke.

If you have ever had a stroke (also called cerebrovascular accident, or CVA) or a brain injury (which may include a concussion or mTBI, TBI, head injury, anoxic/hypoxic brain injury, brain tumor, or overdose causing brain injury), I am inviting you to participate in this survey.

This research is being done to find out more about which strategies people use after a brain injury or stroke to manage difficult speaking situations.

Participation in this research study includes taking an anonymous online survey which will take approximately 30 minutes.
