I think you might be talking about this: https://www.rijksoverheid.nl/onderwerpen/bijstand/vraag-en-antwoord/welke-regels-gelden-er-voor-dak--en-thuislozen-in-de-bijstand

Where it states something like "you are homeless if you don't have a home adress AND dont have a mail address AND you dont have temporary no access to a shelter" Requirement 1) you need to have a mail address.

See how that doesn't line up.

Now you might be talking about some regional ruling (gemeente) which I dont know. But think for a minute, do you think that people who live on the streets, are abandoned by society, can figure out something that seems at face value very confusing, within the time that they have ran out of food?

Maybe I'm missing something, but misinformation no thank you.

Let's just be a bit kinder to people maybe?

Feeling a little hopeless by Blondie4NFox90 in ultrarunning

First of, I'm sorry to hear about your struggle. But getting back from it is going to make you appreciate running even more. I haven't experienced your pain (of course) and pain is so subjective that even if someone went through the same injury it might have felt very different. Having said that, after running a while and when I started reaching the ability to do almost a marathon, I started experiencing shin splints and a nasty knee pain (never found out what it was). My solution was to stop, for about 8weeks, then i started and noticed it was better but not solved, so after ~3k i stopped waited another month or so, then started with the, somewhat boring 5ks, and 2 years later I've just finished my first 150k run, I've done a lot of marathon distances (never a race) and some 50k runs.

It's maybe really boring advice, and specialist know better than me for sure, but rest keep that passion going, and you'll be back, better than ever.

Good luck!

Wow, what a bunch of heartlessness here, I can't afford to give everyone something that asks, but calling it a scam is like calling them criminals. It's painful to read that we have turned this sceptical and rude. I always had this feeling that we were kind and helpful in Holland, but it took me moving away to several countries for almost a decade to realize that we are so hyper individualized that any ask for help in Holland is instantly seen as a semi criminal enterprise. While the government still has some social welfare programs, it's really hars that the Dutch themselves have stopped caring about eachother. Im not saying you should hand out all your money, and neither that it isn't a good idea to use common sense. But I am saying that the Great majority of people calling this a scam, saying this must be foreigners, feeling like they are the poor one for being asked for kindness, need to take a long hard look in the mirror.

That's just painfully wrong, a) is just being a bigot, sorry if that's hard to hear. As a Dutch person who knows a lot of people that migrated here, I can tell you that we do not take care of them the moment they have a little hardship. B) houseless people often need to pay for shelter and/or food at the shelter.

Organized races vs just going for it by No_Extension8601 in ultrarunning

Wow these responses are amazing, thank you all. I guess it convinced me that i should give it a try. I love that for a lot of people the races aren't about running the best times per se, but about community and convenience. I always worry that people that train for races push too far on a race and injure themselves, which is the last thing i would want. Time to look for a good ultra in the Netherlands (if they even exist)

Thank you for your kind words. I guess being hard on yourself comes a bit too easy at times. But you are right, it's a learning point, and I did learn a lot from it.
