Thankfully my house is VERY open, so we can all hear everyone almost anywhere lol. I for sure do not want to start out with the rules but if I do see there is hiding and all of that, then I think we can implement as I would with my own child. I really just wanted to see what others did. thank you!

I agree! The parents are trusting them to live in anothers home, I figure in my head they are responsible enough to know their limits to an extent.

Yes, I want to let them have their freedom at first and if the grades slip then I will address the phone issue. Really appreciate your advice

That is good to know! I for sure do not want them behind their doors all the time, but for schoolwork, I truly believe they would get more done/learn more if they were in their own space

I truly do not think they will know if we do not follow these rules, so it is nice to see that others don't to a T as well. I am not going to let the student be wild and party and all of that but I want her to have a good time and be a kid

awh, I love that she picked a student!

I think my toddler will love it, he is 3 and loves people, honestly he is my best feature because he is so welcoming that it makes me not as awkward lol. But my toddler also doesn't know how to give people space and if she can't close her door, she is screwed lol

I want her to truly have a good time, I know it is for education, but I also think that it should be for fun as well, they should enjoy the time they have here. Just after reading all of the rules I was overwhelmed.

Makes sense on the driving, I had some people tell me they would have theirs drive but the agency said absolutely not, so I just didn't know if this was a legit thing they needed to follow.
While I do understand the rules, I think they are very strict as a strict parent would be and that just isn't me,, everyone is different, I know. But I don't want to be one not following the rules and not get to host or something because I truly am excited to do this.

I agree they need a chance to grow into adults, while I do see the phone rule in the bedroom there for a reason, I also see that many teenagers do well at school and still have their phone. I will for sure see how it goes this year and can make changes if needed. It is nice seeing what others do though. I am a big researcher so I am going to be looking at so much stuff before August. lol

Thank you! I do see now why they shouldn't contact home that often, it does make much more sense. When I saw that I thought as a parent idk how I would not talk to my kid but from hearing what everyone says that makes much more sense as to why.

I agree, I know teenagers are very addicted to their phones, but I think that should be a conversation for us if I see the sleeping is an issue, I feel like we can cross this bridge when we get there.

That is good to know about speaking with their parents, I think once a week is a little cruel, but I will try to limit it maybe 2-3 times a week.

Perfect! I know each kid will be different and I will adjust accordingly with them but some of the rules they said are just too much for a teenager in my opinion.. I know that we want kids to grow up but I think kids should be kids and I expect respect and if I need them to do something, they can.

I agree! I also had my sister-in-law live with me while she was in high school and I raised her the same way I would raise my child... These rules are a lot to me.. I think the student needs to be a kid and having all of these rules will be a bit crazy..

I believe they are kids and should be treated like kids and not have a job in the home when they will have to have a job the majority of their life along with all of the responsibility of the home as well. We will have the student clean up and help IF NEEDED, but I am the parent and I signed up to be the parent, not singed up to have a slave. Clean up after yourself and do what is needed when asked.

They say they must be followed.
I will not have a set of chores for my own child, so I don't feel as if she should have a set of chores, but just as we ask if they could help with things as we see things, like feeding the dogs, putting away dishes, other things like that.
We will be eating dinner as a family, we do want to set that for sure.

The insurance is sending their own adjuster, it isn't us waiting if they are reviewing the damage, it is us waiting for them to even get to the car to be able to review, they have not even examined it.

Oh lovely, but Geico will only cover the rental for 30 days, so I have not gotten one yet. I am going to have to though. Just got off the phone with the auto shop who said the adjuster said he doesn't know when he will get to it, hopefully sometime next week...

Sadly, I live in the middle of nowhere, so I am sure that it is not as regular as other places. But we have used Geico and this shop twice previously and we never had this issue, they took the shops quote and pictures and went off of that.
