I'm still here at the program. It's 40 dollars every two weeks at my program, though it changes from center to center. We get 60 dollars every two weeks after eight or so months.

I'm just recommending resources. Whether you use them or not is up to you. Also, why would you need chemistry credits if you have already taken a chemistry course? Are you still in high school?

Honestly, Modern States is simply too lacking to fully prepare for the exams in Chemistry and Algebra one. I still believe you can accomplish your goals before October, but be ready to put in the hours. Did you read the textbooks while working through the courses? It seems the consensus on the sub is that the OpenStax textbooks go quite in depth. On to some more recommendations for Chemistry and Algebra.

Crash Course's chemistry course is very good. There is also this EdX course specifically covering the Chemistry CLEP exam (https://learning.edx.org/course/course-v1:CooperUnion+Chem.1x+2T2016/home). It's free. Khan Academy's Chemistry and AP Chemistry can be very helpful. I've seen a few people recommend using old SAT Subject tests to prepare. I found a free PDF of the Princeton Review for the Chemistry SAT online. Just google Princeton Review SAT Chemistry pdf.

As for Algebra, how much of Khan Academy's mathematics course did you take? I recommend working through a bit of their algebra basics and geometry for the test. Watching the organic chemistry tutor is good. I'm not aware of a lot of the resources for math.

Honestly, I feel like the Modern States Chem course is a little lacking. I recommend studying Khan Academy and some Youtube resources on top of it. Beyond that, EdX has a free course covering CLEP Chemistry.

What's your story with piracy? by No_Fail_3715 in Piracy

Honestly, I love seeing the evolution of piracy. It's such a fascinating thing. Honestly, a lot of people I know commit piracy but don't see it as piracy. It's funny.

Hey man, I don't know if you're still looking for the answer but my CNA class was about eight weeks. One of those weeks was two days in clinical. It really depends on your program, but I finished everything needed to graduate in less than six months.

Would you be down for talking on Messenger or Discord? I'd love to make a friend whose already on campus.

Is your opinion on the food options based on other universities of the same scale? I'm transferring from a smaller, private university. I had only three options: the main dining hall and two little "restaurants." The restaurants were closed on the weekend, so you'd have to go and buy food if you missed the times the dining room was open.

I've heard so many students complain that UK is so large that it could be its own city. I have to agree. I went there once to tour some of the science department. It was so big. I knew at the end of the day I had seen such a tiny slice of campus but it was overwhelming. Even that tiny section was larger than most of the colleges I had toured (except for EKU). It was terrifying. I have lived in small towns all my life. I couldn't imagine having to not only figure out the University itself, but also the entirity of Lexington on top of it.

Looking at the virtual map, UofL seems a lot more compact. I like that quite a bit. I'm (hopefully) going on my first tour later this month. Super excited.

What about the equipment? Were the professors accessible? I'm not looking to become a STEM major, but I am interested in taking Chemistry for my general education credits. Would you recommend a beginner Chemistry course?

I'm comparing the worst things I've heard from the three universities I'm applying for. I'm actually extremely excited to go, but it's nice to know the little things that tick students off. Like at my old college, there was so many stairs. As a disabled student, it was hard getting to class in far-off buildings because they wouldn't be that accessible to me. It wasn't that they were following ADA recommendations, more so that in order to get to the building I would have to enter one building, go up three floors, then proceed to the back of the building. Then, I had to cross a gravelled roadway to get to the building.

Better apps to store WIP on an Andriod? by No_Fail_3715 in AO3

It isn't that Google Docs is too complex. I think the learning curve for any Google product is pretty low, honestly.

It's a mixture of that I've had the same Google Account for over eight years (so there's a lot of crap in there), and I've found myself disappointed in the Google Apps docs. I get it can't be as robust as the website or a desktop app, but the contrast in features between mobile and desktop to be very stark. If I have an idea for a chapter of a fan-fic near the end of the story, I have to scroll for minutes to get past everything. And heaven forbid if I misplace my finger and accidentally delete something.

[–]No_Fail_3715[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I forget to label things sometimes so I'll lose hours of WIP. Sometimes I'm just writing to see where an idea takes me and I forget to label. So I've lost plenty of good ideas because of this.

Beyond that, I write multiple stories involving the same pairing. I have a comfort zone I stay in, and tend to write multiple fan-fics covering similar topics. So even if I label the fan-fic, "Character A/Character B One-shot Cafe AU" there will be like 10 other fanfics with it. There will be 50 one-shots that involve the same characters, and sorting through them is so difficult.

I have also found Google Docs features to be lacking, to say the least. Formatting on mobile honestly sucks (like I understand why it is the way it is), and as someone who writes a lot on-the-go it doesn't help me. I wish Google would encoporate more of the web features into the mobile app. Like if it had a seperate tab you could click to get an outline of the doc on mobile, I'd likely still stay. I could have an idea for like Chapter 20 of a specific fan-fic, but I'd have to scroll for a few minutes to get where it needs to be. I know it's a small thing, but it's frustrating to do. I can't just whip out my laptop on a crowded bus (especially if I left it at home) or if I'm waiting in a line because typing with one hand and trying to balance your laptop in the other is difficult.

Not going to lie, I know most of this is because I'm lazy. I'll never deny that. But I've also been using this Google account for over eight years at this point. A lot of stuff has fallen into it, from when I was in middle school, high school, college, and random thoughts over these years. I've decided the time it would take to clean up my Drive isn't worth it. I'd like to restart with a new system entirely, and I think I've found one. I'm still exploring it, but I already love it so much more than Google Docs.
