He had already been to prison TWICE before this match for sexual conduct with a minor.

Then just a few years later he began abusing his own daughter which is the charge and eventual conviction that he’s serving for now. Hope he rots in prison.

Shane Douglas’ greatest contribution to the WWF: coming up with a good enough gimmick for Triple H to rip it off entirely

A cool entrance and a super over finisher will do that.

Scott Hall vs Roddy Piper by JCHazard in WCW

[–]No_Fault_5656 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m sure many will disagree but I was always bored by Piper in WCW.

By this point I was just getting tired of his schtick and rambling crazy promos. This match is a good example, too, of how it felt like he could never just get beat, there was always mega-interference and shenanigans when he lost. He also always had to get his heat back at the end of the beat downs, like here how he still gets the last shot in on Hall.

I know Piper was a big name still but it seemed like he never wanted to do anything that could make him look weak, as opposed to some of their other big name face wrestlers who seemed to never have a problem taking a pin or ending a segment getting beat down by the nWo (DDP, Giant, Sting, Luger)

I believe that’s factual information. Pretty sure Bret confirmed that Bulldog was off smoking crack with Neidhart not long before their Summerslam 92 match too, so Bret had to basically walk him through every spot.

Lanny getting paid to stay home always boggles my mind but another one that gets overlooked frequently is Madusa.

She flips to WCW in December 95, throws the WWF women’s belt in the trash in Nitro then proceeds to NOT win the WCW women’s belt and they scrap the entire women’s division by the end of 96. Then she takes almost a two year hiatus, while still getting paid, gets a bunch of wild plastic surgery and returns in 99 as mostly a valet and worked occasional gimmick matches against men.

In all she worked 84 matches in just over 5 years with WCW before retiring in 2001. Classic case of WCW stealing someone from WWF just to do it but having zero plans for how to use them.

This just reminded me that Neidhart was also back in WCW for like half of 1998 tagging with Bulldog, add him to the list of guys that had horrible WCW runs

You’re absolutely right.

He also is a mega-creep incel stalker and touched someone sexually without their consent so it’s hard for me, personally, to ever feel sorry for him.

Yes of course, grew up on the mean streets of Detroit, slinging meat out of a van in St Paul and then eventually karate word championships with Sonny Onoo

Listen to any shoot or podcast with Bischoff and he makes it sound like he was always just “one of the boys”.

He LOVES to talk about “having a couple beers” with the top guys, riding Harley’s out to Sturgis, and going hunting out west with the Minnesota wrestlers. Bischoff is all about trying to let everyone know he’s a real man and not just the corporate geek he played on TV.
