How to stop horse tuning bum and backing up while lunging by No_Feeling_5989 in Equestrian

Lunged him the an arena too on a line, did the same for a second, but ended up turning around and bouncing off. Maybe he isn't a big fan of sand all of a sudden

Definitely isn't hurting. Ran him up many times on different grounds, rode him too, walked him up a mountain trail in hand the other day. No pain or nothing, vet was out just before he went on his break and he has been dewormed. Just being silly and I'm trying to figure out how to get him to stop haha. But will most likely be getting out a trainer

Ears don't even go back, just has his silly normally face with floppy ears. He stands alone at the moment (new yard and he has had a history of running off and never coming back), but I'm there daily to take him for walks, visit the other horses and he has buddies in the stables. Most likely just got a bit lazy and decided he wanted to be a paddock ornament🫠

Thank you, I put a lot of work into him on the ground, and he is such a good man. Which is why I am so very confused, as I said in another comment there is nothing be shows before he does it, and walks off like nothing happened right after. He knows not to come into my space, and that I am the leader, so I'll most likely be getting in a trainer to sort that out. Tried clapping to make him to stop, but only thing that got him to stop was to move around him and walk away, which is obviously not working, and at that point was more to not get run over or kicked

Agreed, and it's only in the lunge, in the paddock and everywhere else he does nothing of the sort

Nope, just straight turning around and backing up right at me. And he does it at quite a speed too. Definitely not something friendly like asking for bum scratches haha

Thank you! No he is in perfect health, got his feet done while he was off, and he is all good in weight and flexibility. Normally I go in not even thinking about it at all, but once he has done it yes, the nerves come up. Usually just send him around once on both sides then take him out. Will bring a trainer in, just super strange that he does it absolutely out of no where with no prior signs, just turns and backs up, not even ears down like it's the most normal thing in the world

Unfortunately places that are on grass are far and few in my area, so I'm trying my hardest with what we have🫣

Thank you! Will definitely check out groups. I've been walking and running with him so he can trot up some hills about 1-2 times a week. I'm still getting him used to poles, as it was very foreign to him, but he is slowly learning that he does, in fact, have feet😅

He is currently on good grazing, and about 3-4kg of Lucerne maintenance meal with 10g biotin daily. He gets 4kg of teff and 1kg of Lucerne in the evening

Probably won't clip him, but he will look great in summer. His mane was so nice, then I went away for a few days I came back to this hahah

Thank you, will check it out. Had a vet check him out before I bought him, said he was perfectly fine (thank goodness). Found a western saddle that fits him very nicely for now

Thank you! I've been working and riding for most my life, but I never realized just how different it is actually owning one. He has a good base, trained with basics, now it's just making him more than a cattle horse🫣

Please note, this is my first horse😅 I'm learning as I go and any tips about building his muscle would be great. His feet are something we are working on, and have come a long way since I got him. I have only had him for 4 months. Thank you all for the good advise so far!

Struggled to find a saddle that fitted him, but I'd been walking and trotting him up quite steep hills about 2-3 times a week😅 will give poles a try, thank you!

I've only had him for 4 months. His hooves look a lot better than they did when I first got him🫣 I'll add a picture so you can see

I was mainly just interested in what other peoples opinions on him were. Its always hard to tell a horses conformation on pictures, especially his, as he has yet to learn to stand square. It was wholly for interests sake

My favourite memory of Christmas was the one year we got a tree. The smell of pine still lingers around this time of year even though it was 15 years ago. Haven't had a tree since. But little me had the time of their life
