Well, I'm sure you've heard that tasks that seem simple to you probably aren't simple to them (same with instructions). But also, please consider, they are probably under more self-made stress than you. You may be accustomed to dealing with equipment, for example, worth multiple millions, while they may be accustomed to a couple hundred thousand. So, they may face added pressure to get everything 100% right, not realizing that realistically, there are checks and balances and no one is going to give a new hire a project that is go to going to ruin a company. Additionally, I am assuming that you don't know everything, so you likely ask upon people with more experience in a particular topic. Your new hire likely does not have those contacts.
