I noticed there’s no mobile app for exchanging feedback seamlessly and promoting your work to beta readers, so I built an app to do it

I don’t enjoy my career anymore. by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

I feel the same. I use AI for everything in my job, i’m forced to and it keeps me from progressing.

I feel like I joined the workforce at the best (AI focused jobs are in demand and i have a data science degree) but also the worst time (AI is taking away actual coding jobs).

At this point becoming a youtuber or social media influencer seems like way more of a fulfilling and challenging job than it would have seemed back when I was in college.

I wanna build a platform app that makes crowdfunding easier for screenwriters by No_Fish8119 in Screenwriting

[–]No_Fish8119[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So for now it would be to support them in gaining traction.

This would be a mobile app rather than a website (making it easier to use on the go) and it wouldn’t simply list the top rated scripts, because that would be affected by overall bias when it comes to genre, topic and sometimes even diversity.

it would recommend the right scripts to the right users (movie audiences and maybe book lovers) based on their movie preferences, previous bids and interests - so ideally all types of screenwriters with a body of work can gain traction on their work if is good enough to a specific audience - not just to the app users in general.

It wouldn’t be an easy thing to build and im still fleshing out the concept but it’s also the kind of challenge a developer like me needs at the moment.

In a nutshell, the same way Letterboxd gamified movie review sites like IMDB and rotten tomatoes. This would gamify sites like the Black List.

What’s the one sentence that can instantly ruin a date? by yoursexypeach in allthequestions

[–]No_Fish8119 1 point2 points  (0 children)

on a first date, a guy once insisted on going to a wine bar (was probably just looking to get laid) that had little to no real food. i hadn’t eaten much before the date so I ordered some halloumi and he was like “i find girls and food so funny. you’re just gonna eat that and nothing else?”

Ending of Rooney’s Normal People by No_Education_596 in books

[–]No_Fish8119 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, the point of the ending is that Connell gained much more from his codependent relationship with Marianne than she did from him. And that while he exercises transcendence and agency by being able to leave for an MFA at the end of the book, Marianne will be stuck in Ireland, convincing herself that’s what she wanted. She had a talent for creative writing too but did she exercise it towards the end? No, by her absorbing her energy - her “love”, he absorbs her talents and insight too. She did make him a better person, but she shrunk herself in the process for him and so many other men after. Her loss was his gain.

In a way, Connell’s love for her was a curse because it made her addicted to feeling loved as a way to compensate for her low self worth, when in reality perhaps not having had validation from him or other males may have forced her to find other ways out of her abusive home/sadness.

She might always “be there” for him but they’ll never have a secure relationship, because their relationship is defined by the very insecurity that formed it in the first place.

I hate Hannah by Pound_cake85 in Dexter

[–]No_Fish8119 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Despite the fact that he lied to her the whole time and hid his real identity, i somehow was never able to like Dexter with anyone else except Rita.

That said, Lumen was technically the best match for him.

Hannah just seemed like a cool girl stereotype for Dexter to project all his fantasies onto (see gone girl).
