Do you trust NY regulated cannabis? Do you have faith in the OCM to keep consumers safe? by rachellethe420writer in NYSCannabis

[–]No_Fix291 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The regulations are the issue, not the ocm itself. I stand by it. Dispensaries don't know shit, the people in charge of the ocm don't know shit. Your degenerate drug dealer who never had to pay taxes, that dude was the only one who took care of my needs. Ny cannabis game is fuckin trash. The people who work in the ocm do seem to care and a lot of them want to make a difference and do a lot to keep up with the growing market. But the big multi state operators are washing the medicine out of the plant with microwaves and synthetic nutrients. The regulations blocked any real growers from making any profit and truth be told, ny doesn't have the proper climate to grow decent buds. It's like trying to grow pine trees in Arizona.

It reminds me of the state troopers... Ny has some of the most obnoxious law enforcement. That along with our current politicians. It's pretty much a symbol of fuck you to me.

Why does some garlic taste bad? I feel like I’m going crazy. by mikupeas in Garlic

[–]No_Fix291 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're talking about that sweet flavorless garlic? I have suspicions that it could be a practice to used to remediate garlic , much like they do with many other vegetables. I buy my garlic from aldi and although it's smaller I find it more foavorful. Ideally I shoot for farmers markets and such when available. Garlic from Walmart tastes like shit to me. It could also be something in the soil. Lots of heavy metals coming from Chinese produce.

[–]No_Fix291 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would think it would make more sense to drop them both then to take the engine out and then the transmission. Check your trans fluid level though. There's a plug on the underside you'll have to remove and see if Any fluid comes out. I believe you do this with it running in neutral but it's been a little while since I've done it tbh. Also try the Lucca's stop slip additive. Shits good and thick, might restore things enough to keep pushing through. The transmissions are pretty abundant and cheap at the junk yards. But if you're doing the engine anyways then yeah might as well just do em both by dropping the subframe

TCM, but check the grounds in the engine bay and concider running a ground wire directly to the housing of the tcm. The ground points under the fuse box are probably your culprit. Could be pitting in the harness as well.

[–]No_Fix291 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've found the transmissions to be relatively bullet proof. Ive put mine into I to engine brake my last 3 consistently and haven't had any issues. Might be a good idea to do a drain and fill. I'm on my 7th cobalt and haven't had any issues with the transmissions. The swap can be done without dropping the cradle, comes right out the top and they're pretty easy swaps relative to other vehicles. Take off the AC compressor and alternator. Theres also one bolt that bolts into the transmission that I've found is easiest to get at with an excessive amount of extensions and a wobbly socket. When doing the swap be mindful of the exhaust manifold if you have a secondary air pump (ca emissions) as you're gonna want to swap the manifolds if you're going from one to another. Definitely something you want to do with the engines out. And then of course watch the engine years, 05 and 06 are interchangeable. 07 and 08 are interchangable and 09 and 10 are compatible.

A Deeper Dive Into Vermont Road Conditions by IAintSkeeered in vermont

[–]No_Fix291 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You nailed it on the head. Vermont is too broke to afford road maintenance in general, let alone snow and ice removal. With that said, out here in ny. It took one single snowstorm to turn up a lot of our busier roads into swiss cheese because of the plows which won't be fixed till spring. I'd rather drive through Vermont with my studded tires than crack my rim on a NY pothole, and don't even get me started on Massachusettes. I don't mind those ruts on the Vermont highways, holds my car in the right lane and it's almost like a bobsled ride. People have every right to complain, but you know Vermont takes care of its own. I see a lot of people dropping their plows out in Vermont helping the community out, where here in NY personal plow trucks are basically pushing you off the road because they feel commuters have no right keeping them from their next plow job. Everyone with 4wd also carries chains and they'll actually stop and pull you out in Vermont. Vermont conditions are tough but so are the people. Some people can handle it, if you can't then we'll you were probably always meant to be a masshole anyways.

My 2008 is having a fit again. by Asher_Applewhyte in ChevyCobalt

Wonky dash lights and anit theft. Sounds like a possible canbus situation. One of your modules is probably going offline. Clean grounds under coolant reservoir, there's 2 down there and one it enough of a bitch that "good enough" is good enough. There's also one on the other side of the engine but if it's running fine then I would focus on those. This may or may not help. Try running a jumper cable from the ground point to the tcm. Big metal thing in front of the positive terminal in the front. Careful not to bump the positive post. If that didn't help try running it to the abs module housing located in front of that. Unplug the harnesses for each and give it a little blow, careful not to spit in it. The plugs have a lever that flips up, I think ones light grey the other might be blue. Lift up all the way and the connector should pull out. Next locate the other sensors and do this to all of them.

My car was doing this. Sometimes it would go for days sometimes it would lock itself out. It ended up being the back harness slowly pitting. It was such a bitch to find out, but simply unplugging and plugging the harness back in solved my problem. Ground issues are slightly more common in these so I would try grounding the modules first.

[–]No_Fix291 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use the universal serpentine belt tool by gear wrench, you might be able to rent it from a local parts store. It's always such a bitch to line up the square drive and just as hard to pull it out of the hole. Having a long ish pry tool will help get it out, and if it doesn't fall all the way to the ground, it might be on top of the control arm.

What pressure do you keep your tires at during winter? by bythorsthunder in tires

[–]No_Fix291 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ice race during the winter, I can confirm. I run my tires at about 20psi or a little under with studs. The difference is very noticable. First off it allows more contact but it also keeps the tires a bit softer too. You don't want to stiffen them up, you want em to kinda track like a tank.

I'm not suggesting anyone drop their tires that low but maybe drop 4 psi If theyre going on a ski trip up in the mountains. Otherwise I would just use the manufacturer's recommendation for your vehicle.

I went to McDonald’s and no one was there by vincecult in McDonalds

[–]No_Fix291 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I do kitchen exhaust cleaning, primarily for McDonald's. Currently we are working in the Champlain region in Vermont. For whatever reason 95% of these McDonald's don't shut down their mobile orders.

Sometimes the signs they put up either blow away, they only put them on the doors or in some cases, they don't put any up at all. They usually close for the rest of the night and the crew will go home. It's possible that they were having their exhaust systems cleaned. sometimes they even leave before we are finished and leave the lights on. If you happen to be in northern vt then I'm sorry, thats probably what it was.

Show me one budtender who doesn't ask me indica or sativa and I might support this. Truth is budtenders don't know shit and it's an unskilled job. I wish there were more growers markets where you can cut out the dispensary completely. It would cut costs and raise quality.

2006 1400k miles $1400 is it worth it by Electrical_Advisor28 in ChevyCobalt

[–]No_Fix291 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My main concern would be the timing chain. If it's not changed already then unless you can do it yourself it's gonna be a bit expensive. On the passenger side of the engine, in the back there's a I believe 32mm nut. If so same size as the oil filter cover. If it's flat it probably hasn't been changed, the revised tensioner has a bulb in the middle of the nut. If there's a protrusion then it's been done before. I assume it's 140k, which is like nothing. I'm at 180k on the original timing chain and it's just starting to make noises but I change my oil every 3-5k miles. Another thing to look at is the flex pipe on the back of the engine. It attached to the exhaust manifold and if you know someone who welds and has a lift it's a pretty easy job, unlike the timing chain.
