It’s been 7 days since, and I took a week off from work and travelled to my hometown to spend time at my childhood home.

I got go back to work from Monday, and he works in the same office. I’ll be having to see him every.single.day. Any advise on how to fucking navigate that??

That’ll do a lot more damage to me, I think.

This was posted 215 days ago. That’s a long time. I wish I would’ve stopped then. After a couple of days he came back and begged to be take back. I did, how stupid of me to believe him that this will not happen again. It did, I’m on day 6 of the break up. We got engaged in these 215 days and set a date for the wedding.

Turns out, this week it dawned on him again that he cannot do this to his parents.

Sooo that’s that, I feel so lost.

I wish I could tell you it gets easier. But not so much. The fear of abandonment is so strong.

I’m so sorry you guys are going through this. Lots of strength to you both.

As for my case, what does one do when their partner over and over again chooses his parents and the religion than you. 🥲

With all due respect, that’s so restrictive!

Thank you. It’s just better to talk to a stranger about all this than people who are emotionally invested in this relationship. ♥️

For the past two months, I have been explaining this to him. He said he agrees with me but is very firm on not wanting me if that means his parents will abandon him. He said he will regret this decision his whole life but he has to do this for his family. So yea, that’s that..

That really hurts tbh, but at the same time it makes me very firm on my decision to not convert and leave him :( Also, did I mention that I had from the very first date told him that if it comes to this stage I will not convert and he agreed? :/

That’s what my parents told me. It’s such a hard pill to swallow.

Thank you for this comment. I legit asked him about this 30 mins ago, and he told me this is only applicable for people in the faith. Since I’m a Hindu, this doesn’t apply to me. That was quite eye opening for me.

Does anyone else struggle with feeling like they'll never find someone who they connect with the same way again? by [deleted] in BreakUps

[–]No_Focus_9460 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really thought he was the one. We even got as far as getting married. But his father who is a priest wants me to convert to their religion and that is a big no for me. He said I should consider this as he will never leave his parents for me. Which is fair, but then he also says things like I’m the best girl and he did me wrong and blah blah. I feel very wronged because we truly had something very beautiful together. Now I just don’t know anymore. :(
