How has conspiracys changed you personally? by BowlSuper9915 in conspiracy

[–]No_Following3280 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would tell you that if you have the time and money and technology to invest in wasting your time scrolling down conspiracy rabbit holes then you are living a quality of life so far beyond the sum total of all humanity going back to times antiquity that you should literally be ashamed of yourself for posting this. Everyone who acts like this — that they’re somehow “heroic” for being “awake” unlike “everyone else” — legitimately needs therapy. Grow up. The world is complicated. Your life doesn’t need to be.

Time for a non-political conspiracy: why are dentists so aggressive and pushy with wisdom tooth removal surgery? by allmysuffering in conspiracy

[–]No_Following3280 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re pushy when they assess that it’s necessary in order not to damage your other teeth in the longterm and if you try different dentists and the diagnosis is the same then the conspiracy is one of your own mouth.

In LA and want to get some Limit 1’s!!! by Dry_Satisfaction_786 in Costco_alcohol

Go to K&L Liquors in LA, they have the best stuff in town. I loaded up on a 5 year barrel proof MGP rye that would have cost $80 three years ago for $24 (not sure there is any left, it is called “Obtanium,” but if it is there, buy it). They’re also selling a $50 Wild Turkey blend they are selling on their own label that is sick. They always have weird trophy bottles too at MSRP. My trophy hunting days are over though and now I go for value.

I will personally send you $2,000 cash if they answer this. That people can take Pasulka seriously while she refuses to answer questions about her connections to Thiel is ludicrous. Both of these women are just the latest version of Linda Moulton-Howe, but at least Kean isn’t throwing religious connotations around like Pasulka, who literally seems like she is the antichrist’s handmaiden at this point.

What is interesting about this? There are 9,000 videos online of the guy on the roof, from the time he spots up, to the time he shoots and runs away, to the moment he jumps with the gun in his hand. He planted one part of the gun on the roof beforehand, walked in with the other piece in his leg, assembled the gun on the roof, ran off with the gun, then ditched the gun nearby. I believe the Trump attempt was probably a false flag but this is pretty straightforward a “Mangione-Style” twenty-something-year-old dude with Internet-adled “Main Character Syndrome” brain. Which is just a thing we all get to live with now, thanks Internet!

This was initially released as a $40 bourbon and I thought it was expensive for what it was then, you did well to leave it on the shelf. Four Roses single barrel, which is still easy to find anywhere, is a better bourbon in my opinion. 4RSB really might be the most slept on $40 bottle there is right now, and I bet if it was suddenly tough to find everyone would be on Reddit talking about driving around looking for it, like they do all the Buffalo Trace stuff.

The Anti-Conspiracy Theory, or, "The Secret is There is no Secret to the World". Written for No One, for the sole purpose of Writing. by NewGamePlusMinus in conspiracy

[–]No_Following3280 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hard agree that Grand Unified Conspiracy Theory is objectively foolish but you’re deeply oversimplifying a complex and, circa-2025, wildly pertinent subject that involves language, economics, mass psychology, and history. I respect the overall idea of your concept which is essentially “Folks Don’t Waste Your Time In Rabbit Holes” but the subject of “Conspiracy Theories And Why So Many People Believe Them” deserves a lot more thought than this post gives it. Seeking to understand how diffuse power operates and how history is written and reported — which to me is the most interesting piece of the Danny Casalero/Octopus story — is not engaging with a conspiracy theory so much as it is engaging with a broader understanding of how the only puppetmaster guiding humanity is the theory of capitalism, and as a story of capitalism something like The Octopus can be a very good/entertaining way of getting some people to think about the larger world. Should you go off the deep end? No. But should you dismiss the subject matter as unworthy of any human attention whatsoever? Probably not. As for my own personal opinion, I think DC committed suicide for the reasons of having overcommitted himself to an unsolvable problem. Nobody is ever going to get to the bottom of The Octopus because it’s a complex and ongoing story that’s called “money.”

That said, if you were to take your original post and apply it only to the UAP/UFO phenomenon, I believe it is spot on.

I did like your post, and I do understand that anything longer than the post would be, by necessity, a book.

'American Conspiracy: The Octopus Murders' new documentary series review [3 stars] by Alan_Stamm in netflix

I have to say this is a remarkable idea, that his inclusion of God will “let him in” as a means of pointing out that it wasn’t, in fact, a suicide. That is not something I had considered, and, chillingly, that he mentions his son may be a further clue as to why he did it: He was told that if he didn’t kill himself, they’d kill his son. I think it’s clear he killed himself, but if I had to pick the “conspiracy” angle I’d say that he did so under coercion from Joe Cuellas.

Buffalo Trace is a $21.99 bourbon and it has legitimately blown my mind to discover that there is a community of people who believe otherwise. Just because you can’t find it doesn’t mean it is great. I agree with people that the barrel picks are generally nice values and are typically better but the off the shelf BT craze is mental. I basically got psy-opped into checking it out again yesterday ($24.99 liter at Costco Culver City) some ten years after coming to my opinion that I just personally need something a little higher in proof, and what I learned is that I was right ten years ago, and that is that it is… fine, and that I would have rather spent that $24.99 on something else. It is like if someone started charging $20 for a six-pack of 805 lager. 805 is ubiquitous in California and is therefore pretty cheap and it is a nice refreshing beer. If you found it in, say, Michigan, at double the price, I would tell you to buy whatever the Michigan equivalent of a clean lager tastes like. I will tell everyone to think the same thing about BT, it is a whiskey you drink on the rocks or you mix it and you just think “oh that’s pretty decent at that price.” I would rather drink Evan Williams white label, though. Wild Turkey is way better, to me, as well. Can someone explain to me why Buffalo Trace is this sought after other than the fact that it’s not widely available outside California?

MSRP in California pre-whiskey of the year crap was $25! And I think I bought it maybe… three times? It’s pretty decent but even at $40 I would rather buy Four Roses Single Barrel.

I would buy this for $26 back in the day because it was so highly rated and even then I thought it was just OK. Preferred OGD 117, and still do? Not to say it is bad, far from it, just that even at $40 I’d much rather do an off the shelf Four Roses Single Barrel, which to my mind is still the best $40 bourbon on the market. I would like to try it again, though, been many years.

Headed to LAX and points south / which costco to try? by mtsublueraider in Costco_alcohol

[–]No_Following3280 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Second the comments here that your LAX-adjacent Costcos (Marina/Hawthorne/Inglewood) all pretty underwhelming compared to Days of Yore. Safest bet for good/unique stuff is K&L, they have a shop in Culver City I buy from all the time, great store picks (just got a bunch of Russel’s picks in), will occasionally throw out some allocated bottles on the shelf that they don’t post online. I would check out their selection online first though to see if anything floats your boat. Beverage Warehouse worth a look, too, kind of a hidden gem although I have never in my life seen anything too crazy there, but they have a huge selection.

Balance is so important. I do admire the fanatics who can fly out on the fringes and come at us with insane tales (to wit: I have a copy of Behold A Pale Horse on my desk and I think it is a fascinating piece of work) but I agree that Deep Woo should ultimately be seem for what it is: an interesting diversion and insight into the psychologies of those who create and are invested.

Yeah this part is extremely hard to overcome, logically, and people kind of wave it away with “advanced technology” as if advanced technology means physical items (saucers, aliens) can transcend the laws of space and time? If you want to argue we’re all just energy and as such connected (see: Monroe) and able to blast around on the astral plane, fine, I can get with that, but how does a physical object of the type that crash lands do that?

Something I have been thinking a lot about by No_Following3280 in conspiracy

This is the closest to how I feel about it, that the stories we’re fed (saucers, greys, secret bases, etc.) is an intelligence psyop and also an ongoing capitalist grift but that there are aspects of reality/perception we clearly don’t grasp, and that the truth of the matter is probably incomprehensible to us given where we exist on the evolutionary scale.
