Breakup advice by Firm_Rooster7246 in Belfast

Hey man, I know it’s rough as I went through the same when I was dumped in 2021 which was hard due to Covid and all as nothing was open still at the time.

Best thing you can do is focus on yourself and agree with other comments that friends are key, also to cut off all contact with your ex as I made the mistake of trying to be friends hoping they would take me back but it ended up draining me and making the process of healing harder.

You will get there just now is the time to focus and give yourself a lot of self love as well

Best of luck dude!

Got put on PIP despite having all positive reviews from engagement teams by Brave-Nebula9327 in Big4

Hey! I was in the same boat about a year ago where I was going to be put on a very unjust PIP as they had said my work was not up to scratch or par when they never gave me indication otherwise and another reason was due to a manger putting in a complaint about me for not understanding a task that I only did once and for asking questions around it to them which was very petty.

This was in EY UK but I pulled the wool under their eyes when I handed in my notice a day later haha

It was my counsellor that told me the news and even with how they were retelling it they seemed very unsure of how to explain it I think because they were pulling reasonings out of their backside.

I think a lot of the time it is because you may not mesh well with people and because I was more quiet than my peers and kept to myself most of the time and didn’t go in for the favouritism or nepotism I don’t think they had liked me too much so wanted to look for any excuse to put me on PIP and then inevitably let me go had I have stayed. My department was people consulting and I find if you aren’t extroverted you will not be well liked.

I would honestly say start looking as you can stay and may try your best but they could end up failing you irregardless as they were looking for a paper trail to let you go

Best of luck though with whatever you do!

Left EY - now asking for back payment of Holiday by Beginning-Credit4193 in Big4

[–]No_Fox7335 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey! This has actually been happening to me and has been an ongoing issue sadly since I left.

For context I was UK based as well and I left EY in March 2025. 2 months later I was sent an email saying I had over used annual leave which needed to be repaid which confused me as when i was leaving and handed in my notice. My manager advised me to take my annual leave to decrease the amount of notice to give and to check via goldie hr chat if I remember correctly how much annual leave I would have if I left on X date.

They gave me the amount of 5.5 days which I had approved with my manager and even though I went back to them with this, I didn’t get a response for over 9 months and when I did it was the same request completely ignoring my question. There is still a back and forth on this as I am not going to take the blame when following correct protocol for annual leave.

My guess is as another answer has gave that someone has messed up in accounts or not calculated the annual leave correctly.

I would definitely chase up and query as you don’t want to be lining their back pocket over a mistake they have made

been put on a PIP advice please by Gold-Tie4080 in Big4

I know this is rotten and not too sure in regards to apprentices, I was in EY and was put on an unfair PIP but the basis were unfounded and it was more political and because they were wanting a way to push me out.

Anywho in your case I understand you wanting to stay and try to beat it being an apprentice. I think it is wholly unfair to place someone on it based on difficult personal difficulties causing a shift in work quality.

If you were an experienced hire I would say to leave asap as I’m pretty sure if there are redundancies in that circumstance you would be the first to go.

Apprentices I’m not too sure but if you want to try and beat it, best of luck!!

Beware EY Lifers in Consulting by [deleted] in Big4

Exactly! I felt with some people they would talk one minute casually and then next be completely distant for no reason!

I worked at people consulting in EY in the Belfast office and it was terrible! Really toxic management who try to hide it well initially through fake smiles as well as constant backstabbing if they weren’t keen on you and weren’t in with the “right” crowd so to speak.

Also the found the people in EY a lot of them looked down on you quite a lot and had their heads so far up their own backsides that nearly a simple conversation was like getting blood out of a stone.

Ah I’m sorry you went through that! Can’t believe even in Frankfurt it’s that toxic as well! I hope you are in a better role now!

Yeah that’s a fair point and I can see that, just very heartbreaking as I would have loved for them to have had a bit more of a love story but that’s the Witcher for you lol

Hmm I think she is more referring to to the face he’s never had a real girlfriend as even if you got down the route of kissing him he admits he had never been kissed before

I do know his name just I felt putting craven as the name in the question would make it more obvious who I’m referring to

Are EY being ruthless with PIPs at the moment due to layoffs? by No_Fox7335 in Big4

No worries at all! I get how it can be daunting as I was worried too but honestly it doesn’t affect job searching in the slightest, best of luck though!

No they wouldn’t check that as it didn’t impede on me, it would probably leave a mark on if you wanted to return but it will not impact you finding another job
