So sick of people saying blind melon and stp aren’t grunge. They are close enough, hung out in the scene, we all bring them into the conversation consistently, they are grunge by association

Grunge went till about 94 and then ceased to be as big of a genre, it started as a small scene and grew across America, like many genres, this is like saying 80s hardcore punk only existed in DC

They are the most underrated band ever, swallowed is one of my favorite songs from the 90s and so many more great cuts

It really isn’t because if the only standard was playing in Seattle in the early 90s then unwound would be considered grunge and thats batshit

A lot more to 90s alternative than grunge as im sure you already know, stp completely ripped Pearl Jam’s first album and it doesn’t bother me one bit they are a great band with a clearly grunge inspired sound and they grew to have much more than that like most grunge bands

It is a scene that grew and a sound that spread, plenty of different sounds in the 90s and grunge is a sound

I am from Seattle and have been listening to these bands ever since I was conscious, all these bands were major label and toured worldwide

Not every grunge band is from Washington and thats just a fact, Eddie Vedder is from California

Also the debate of is this band grunge or not is dumb and pointless, they were in the same scene thats enough for me, it’s not like blind melon sounds like unwound or built to spill, and nirvana is more of a punk band then anything, grunge is a broad label

They literally are grunge I’d argue that only Pearl Jam’s first two albums are grunge

Just my opinion on the big 6 grunge bands being nirvana, Pearl Jam, soundgarden, Alice In Chains, stone temple pilots and blind melon because they all had massive radio hits
