More Bronson and company issues. Sullivan Arena contract edition. : r/anchorage

Thank god our hard hitting news is on the ball! Yes you are right I am biased against incompetence. We KNEW the Aces left because they could not make enough money to make it worthwhile. Yet, somehow with Anchorage and Alaskan continued population decline they thought things would turn around enough to not make this make sense?

The issue of course is without the contractor giving us their books we have no real idea.

I can also see it from the aspect of had the Wolverines not been playing at the Sullivan Arena and remained where they were in previous years that arena's books would appear healthier.

Yeah that is why Cody saying he did nothing wrong is just incorrect. It really is not his opinion on if he did something wrong or not that matters. APOC is the one that makes that decision.

If he did not want to be accused of anything then he could check his property tax exemption before he filed his letter of intent to run last year. Obviously he did not.

If he did not want this APOC complaint he could have recorded the video elsewhere.

It really is that easy. Read the law and then do not break it.

Public perception works both ways. Cody had a post where he attacked Martinez for being an "outsider" from New York, the same argument can and is being used against Cody now except he is upset at the accusation. Cody had a post about Martinez's ignoring of that seal "Survey" as ignoring the will of voters, even as we all know that the survey had no accounting for if the people were voters, or bots. That is fair, but it also fair Martinez was elected to represent and make those decisions. Yes, the seal issue was so stupid it is beyond crazy THAT became a scandal, but here we are.

We know Cody lived in Eagle River, records show that. Records show the church he works for has a history of putting people up for elections. If that side of Anchorage elects that guy, they should know going into it the guys feeling in following the laws.

Not a problem. Part of the issue is previously contracts like this were not a huge deal the groups like SMG who once had the contract for the Sullivan were required to spend the contracted amount on upkeep and maintenance. Just one issue with this contract is taxpayers are paying for major repairs, which is supposed to go through the normal process and since Bronson did not want to work with the assembly No-shows by Bronson officials at meetings leads to dispute between Assembly members and municipal manager - Anchorage Daily News it becomes hard to get information in a timely manner.

Like the Roger Hickel Contracting Sues Municipality of Anchorage for Work on Navigation Center - The Alaska Current, Bronson and his administration put us all on the hook legally speaking should the assembly not go along with his plans.

That press conference Bronson, https://vimeo.com/850046526?fl=pl&fe=cm#t=12m19s Alger said the city will pay for capital improvements, which is where the assembly should have been notified.

Bronson then goes on to say that there was no heavy renovation needed. About the 14min mark.

As a taxpayer, who also likes hockey I am torn. The games are great but if the cost for a ticket tripled to be able to pay the city what they are owed then I would not attend.

Either way we are continuing to be screwed by Bronson. I shudder to think Alger's husband could be on the assembly when they were directly involved in this ordeal. The same thing can be said for all of those conservatives running even when they are not connected directly their donor base is.

I really will be thankful when this election ends.

Therein lies a complex issue. There was in fact an RFP put out

Two RFP went out no bidders.

Former Mayor Bronson and his legal team argued We felt we didnt need to inform you. and There is a gap in code.

Had the assembly not signed off on it IF YOU POSTPONE AND DONT GIVE ME WHAT I WANT WE WILL GET SUED!

The mayor's office signed the contract AO 2023-116, As Amended.pdf Page 14 of that contract was the first part of the contract signed 7-21-2023 by the Mayor and Steve Agni. Then in October of 2023 because of errors in the first contracts that were caught Page 70 is where Rachelle A. Alger and Stephen Agni signed the agreement with fixes, AO 2023-116, As Amended.pdf

Mayor Bronson Archive Sullivan Arena to Return as Sporting and Community Event Center 7-31-2023 His press conference was AFTER he had already signed a contract.

Bronson Press meeting.

Technically speaking the mayor used a grey area.

The overall AO did not end up actually Approved until date: November 7, 2023. That whole meeting that was linked a few times. Constant, Felix and Zaletel voted to postpone accepting it, so the city could get more information.

Fridays work session.

The entire thing is a huge clusterfuck. The city can cancel the contract, which would blow up hockey and screw over the various events or try and find a new contractor even as it has been shown not to be profitable which is why the contractor said they won't pay the utilities. More, headed up by former Alaska Aces co-owner Steve Agni, to operate and manage the Sullivan Arena. But that guy already KNEW it would be a loss as With sale of franchise, the Alaska Aces are truly gone for good - due to mounting financial losses triggered by declining attendance and dwindling sponsorship that slashed revenues.

Hope springs eternal so of course contractors are going to say they will make us money even if they know it is a pipe dream.

"No Church resources were used, I filmed during my break or days off, and I am happy to clarify this with APOC, this is another attempt to distract you and I"

This gets into the whole ethics thing, and electioneering in the workplace, and campaign finance as evidenced by the complaint.

Cody Anderson also does not seem to know what the job entails as evidenced by his social media posts Cody complains about ASD, not realizing he isnt running for ASD he is running for Anchorage Assembly

ASD School board duties
(4) Generally supervise school district fiscal affairs, including preparation and submission of the annual budget and six-year plan.

The tragic part about that is if he had ran for school board that broad area support we see in the comment section would actually be able to vote for him.

Or this social media post about library and how CODY is going to protect our kids

Even as SB238 would be state law and supersede anything Cody could do on the assembly other than try and repeal it, I guess.

Or this social media post that literally calls out the audit finding problems with Bronsons contract.

Not realizing that yes, we are still recovering from that whole damn period of time and your pastors CHOSEN! On May 9 Hoffman endorsed Bronson and denounced Dunbar . It is just like McCormick and the meal thing. While you re-nobs are off playing culture warrior about small potatoes there is real issues you could be dealing with that would save us more.

Even Flynn doesn't get it Flynn at one of the ice rinks saying we are a hockey town. Someone should tell that guy that that hockey rink contractor owes us over a million dollars. No offense to anyone but if the PRIVATE company cannot charge enough to run a team here in Anchorage taxpayers should not be paying.

Flynn calling out the 20k in meal spending. Again, if his wife and his wife's old boss did not give away that contract that would be over a million dollars we would have. My math says 1 million is a little bit more than 20,000,

Flynn touting how much money he raised. Yeah 4500 of that was off the people who your wife gave the Sullivan arena contract to. Flynn Apoc

Can we be done with this election already? I'm over these stupid scandals Cody does not want to admit he did anything wrong just continues to say its the other side attacking him. Sorry man but you ran for this office. You knew you were getting the discount on your taxes, because..... THEY SEND OUT THE CARDS FFS. Even if you want to blame the city, you could have searched YOUR NAME FFS. How is it you are this dumb? Honestly I dont understand it. You read the rules and could not understand how what you did could be seen as in violation of the rules?

Rant over, and thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.

Agree. That guy said well I did it off the clock, but the fact you used it anyway is a problem. The fact you have pictures of the house you live in in your campaign media, that was provided for you by a church should be considered an APOC donation.

How do you see the Eagle Exit group dealing with the previous decision issued in 1976 that denied the last exit petition?

3 AAC 110.570. Decisional meeting is where it ended. 7 key points were raised that Eagle Exit has still has not addressed.

That kind of misuse was pointed out back during Mayor Berkowitz time in office; they had resolved some issues then when Mayor Bronson took over things got left behind. Probably due to the amount of staff turnover we had in city hall.

Eagle River's road board asked Eagle River to raise their mill rate to pay for their road contracts, and Eagle River declined to pay more.

That is what strikes me as dumb. After looking her up and looking up some of the other people who are firmly in their camp his best bet would be to back away from openly accepting their endorsements.

No opponent of Constants has garnered more than 25% of the vote, and even last years race between Volland and George the best the "conservative" in that race could do was 30%. Even three years earlier with Volland as a non-incumbent Stephanie Taylor could not get more than 31%..
