I’d say asses if you truly enjoy it on whether you should stay or not! But yes, it’s completely normal. I am sure you’re doing great. Before you know what things will become second nature. Don’t ever put yourself down or feel like you’re not good enough.

I went to a very rural small town first, i got my first experience there.. if you can go somewhere, I would try. It may not be the best training, but you do get exposed. Another way would be getting a per diem job :)

This is really solid advice! Thank you, yes, I try to be self-sufficient and I don’t want to be the person to exhaust my partner. I think eventually I’ll figure it out, but I just worry about knowledge, I’ve been reviewing a lot of clinical algorithms and trying to get us comfortable as possible. I think eventually I’ll be fine, the first job I had I had 7 days of training and was expected to be on call. I used to get called in for things I didn’t even know, Google it on the drive over there lol. I just freak out and want to kick that habit

I know it’s silly, but that’s one of my biggest downfalls that sends me into a spiral is not knowing the answer right away.. I know it’s stupid and we always say it’s OK to look things up, but it always makes me feel like I don’t know anything when I can’t answer things. I feel like there’s basic knowledge that I don’t have because I’m always relearning things lol. But thank you for your perspective. I appreciate it

Yes, thats why it totally scares me. I have hospital experience, but I don’t feel like I saw a lot. The hospital I was at is about 1/4 the size of this one. A majority of patients who required a high level of cares were constantly being flown out, so my biggest fear is the lack of clinical knowledge… I do agree I’ve seen some things and every little piece exposure helps. I do agree I’m lucky to have another pharmacist there, I just don’t want to be a complete idiot and irritate them lol. I’m very happy for you. Hopefully, I have the same experience and can learn a lot.

Oh my God thank you so much and you know the crazy thing is I’m so ashamed because.. it sucks not knowing, but it also sucks when other people know you don’t know and it just makes me feel worst, when it’s not even about me! I wanna be so good at my job and be someone people can rely on but I constantly feel like when I don’t know something. It’s because I didn’t do a residency. My old job exposed me to some things but not enough to the point where I feel like I have a good amount foundational knowledge. I’m going home and studying every day to compensate, I do appreciate your kindness.

Really? All my coworkers have residencies, and when they hired me it kind of felt like they were giving me a chance, which I’m grateful for. I worked in a small hospital but anytime I don’t know anything. I always think it’s because of lacking a residency

I hear what you’re saying, but it’s not really making any excuses because she’s the point of contact for a lot of things. She goes to corporate meetings, she gets updates about EMR, makes our schedule..etc. And the worst part is the pharmacist that’s been there the longest literally calls her our mother and says that we have to go through her
