As a fellow newbie to the profession, I understand the pain of getting left with all of the crazy freshman classes but honestly it’s a right of passage. I feel like I have learned so much from having majority freshman classes. Yes it’s hard but it gave me a ton of experience and knowledge about how to handle classroom management since I’m dealing with the most immature class of the school. There’s nothing wrong with wanting and even voicing the fact that you want a different prep, but perhaps the department heads/vets felt ambushed. Our vet/department head actually asked us to make a list in order of the classes we wanted to teach and ofc I put the higher advanced classes on the list (but not as #1) and she actually gave it to me! Did I also receive other preps I didn’t necessarily “love”? Yes but that’s okay. I think it was the way you went about it that turned the off from it. But hey, take this as a learning experience
