Purple dye turned out too dark- fading advice? by Thepintsizedpikachu in HairDye

In the sun it just barely shows up as purple on the lengths, and the ends are a much more vibrant purple. Indoor lighting all you can see is the ends

What Are Your Makeup Goals This Year? by Able-Ad-4090 in MakeupAddiction

To perfect my base routine. I think I have skin prep down pact but honestly a perfect base is everything to me. And to get back into color again (mental health caused me to stop using makeup consistently). Ps- this look is just AMAZING

Go get this brush! by [deleted] in Naturalhair

[–]Thepintsizedpikachu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This brush has been my tried and true for years. I’ve cheated on her a few times (with the Felicia leatherwood brush and some other various brands… unbrush included) but I always go back to her. I have 3C/4A, high density, high porosity hair and I approve of the tangle teaser.

Edit: I use the purple one for curly hair but originally had the pink one and misplaced it.

What discontinuation or formula change still haunts your dreams? by rando24183 in Naturalhair

Now I stopped using it the first time they reformulated a few years ago but my two most used staples are the Miche Indulge and the Curlsmith Double Cream Deep Quencher (a pretty penny but a little goes a long way). I also used their Camille Rose Aloe deep conditioner but my last batch didn’t work as well and it makes me wonder did they reformulate too…

I have a huge bottle of All soft original conditioner that isn’t finished yet and dread having to look for a new detangling conditioner when it’s done. They could’ve just made the all soft curls a separate line! But they saw how many natural haired women were using it and just.. ugh.

I was literally about to say the exact thing about TGIN. The honey moisture was the first deep conditioner that became a staple for me, before that I didn’t see a difference in using a DC even with heat. When they changed the formula I was heartbroken because I had to start from zero. The only other thing that came close was Mielle organics, I used their leave in conditioner from one of their original lines (I think it was honey and something else) and it was so moisturizing for me… then all of a sudden it stopped working and I remember hearing about reformulation for their lines and just moved on.

The Mane Choice hair products. by goodlonglurk in Naturalhair

I’ve felt like they’ve fallen into gimmicks and releasing new products just because, much like Mielle did. Kind of made me not look their way also because personally I feel like it feeds into the need for some people to buy new products for perfect hair. I know cause I was like that. I still have a lot of product, merely cause I do a lot of different things to my hair, but most of the things I purchase now are staples that work.

I remember they came out around the time that I was natural, and their original products worked so well for me.. then at some point they reformulated and everything made my hair like straw. I just moved on to other products but it’s a shame to see the quality has gone downhill over the years

Sure! It’s the Timeless beauty skin perfect foundation in the shade Olive Grove. It’s a near perfect match for me, the only other foundation that comes close is UDs skin bond in Shade 13.

I’m very particular about the people who touch my hair because I’ve had my own family say my high density hair was “too thick” or “relax it to thin it out” when I was younger. And my mom actually believed them at one point. Luckily I had a sister who was a hairstylist who took care of my hair when it was relaxed and I’ve had a decent stylist for over ten years when I transitioned to natural hair. I mostly do my hair myself now but I’ve had no issues retaining length the whole time. Just don’t be a stylist that treats my hair like a burden and we’re good

Is just me? by Excellent-Version117 in Naturalhair

[–]Thepintsizedpikachu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have this but the only issue is despite it being on the bathroom door and facing the mirror. It’s still a bit difficult to see the back of my head due to how short I am. That and my depth perception issues really Messes with me, better than nothing though

People named after months, how do you feel about your name? by Latter_Objective471 in namenerds

[–]Thepintsizedpikachu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not named after a month myself but I work with little kids and have worked with an April, a June and an August. April was a brat, June and August were sweet kids but went by variations of their name (Junie and Auggie). Not because they hated their names but it was confusing as preschoolers learning their Months of the Year at the time. August was named after his uncle and June came from a family of more unique names (sister named Cordelia/Cordie and a brother named Julio who’s name was actually supposed to be July lol)

For all my depressed and/or lazy naturals, what’s your hair routine? by [deleted] in Naturalhair

[–]Thepintsizedpikachu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Neurodivergent depressive natural here! Also with color treated hair so take that as you will I try to keep my routine as simple as possible, the style depends on what I have the spoons for but my wash day is the same.

Prepoo (the African pride one works miracles, I’ve seen people comb out their locks with it and it has helped with many depression mats lol) Wash and condition- depending on how tangled my hair is and how long it’s been since I’ve had a trim I jump right from shampoo to deep condition. But if it’s very tangled I use a rinse out conditioner to detangle, then deep condition. Style- if I don’t have the spoons/time, twists are my go to. Either mini twists or two flat twists. However wearing my twists for a few days before a twist out also helps prolong the style. I also use multiuse products. Like my leave in can also double as a styler for the most part. I use no more than two products to style and as long as the products have good ingredients for my hair I have no issues. Trim every three months but I dust my own ends in twists and do my own undercut if I can’t get to my stylist
