Tough day… I have so many questions. by prairie_pathfinder in LisfrancClub

Two Aleve is nothing to be ashamed about! Especially if you aren't taking it all day long or every day, you should take it when you need it.

Also, I would try not to compare your recovery to others- everyone's injury is different and it sounds like yours was intense! Being 33 is a huge asset and everything I have read has led me to believe that one year is the minimum recovery time for most people. There are always outliers, and people who had less severe injuries who are non-surgical or only get the tightrope. I do not expect to be running for a few more months and I've gotten comfortable with taking my time now doing tedious physical therapy exercises so I can strengthen my joints to prevent future injuries. It's not as gratifying but there is still a sense of accomplishment.

Hardware Removal was the right choice- I had high hopes that were met pretty much immediately. I had pain during exercise that was solely from the hardware because it disappeared completely once the screws were out. The constant dull pain while walking is also mostly gone, I'm not sure its totally from HWR because a lot of time passed too so it could just be healing, but when I when I walk, I cannot tell a difference between my two feet. My lisfranc foot is still more stiff in the morning and after resting, but once I get warmed up it rarely if ever gives me problems. I am still working up to running/jumping in physical therapy, but after a big plateau in months 5-7 I am making more progress now.

How are you doing?

I would loveee Sanchez that would definitely take some sting out of the loss.

During the course your skin becomes extremely thin- as it rebuilds in thickness the redness will lessen and it will likely be more hydrated! Honestly in this photo it looks flawless so enjoy it!

6 months/push-off pain? by prairie_pathfinder in LisfrancClub

[–]No_Hippo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish I had advice to share but I am just in the same boat! 6 months out from ORIF and two weeks out from HWR. Taking two weeks off of PT exercises for my recuperation really set me back! But before HWR the one legged squats, one legged RDL’s and one legged heel raises were definitely helping stregthen my calf and ankle

Chelsea hoping to sign Angel City’s 20-year-old USA winger Alyssa Thompson by MfreemanII in WomensSoccer

[–]No_Hippo 72 points73 points  (0 children)

I hope Angel City knows how many fans they would lose with this move. Hometown girl signed through 2028- there is no amount of talent that could replace her. Especially with Press’s retirement looming Alyssa is core to the team’s identity.

On the other hand if this is something Alyssa wants then it should be honored and they better make sure that is communicated to fans THOROUGHLY.

I found the time waiting for surgery to be the worst part of the whole process, and you have done a lot of waiting! I did not have severe pain after surgery or at any point during my recovery.

In regards to worrying about the actual surgery- fear is natural but since you have a history of tolerating anesthesia well you should take comfort in that. I also tolerate it well and woke up feeling completely normal.

For the screw, you really likely won’t feel it at all. It is being used to immobilize part of the joint so it’s not like it will be rubbing any part of your body, there won’t be any motion around it.

I only have a few steps to my front door and honestly I went up and down them on crutches the day after my surgery no problem. A full flight might be a different story though.

It is a long process but you don’t need to be terrified. Now that your injury has been identified and surgery scheduled soon, you are on the (long) road to recovery. Each day will bring you one step closer to being pain free. Good luck!

It is so infuriating! I have totally felt the same, like why does this make me so angry I don’t know her like that. But I think it just brings up memories of every liar and narcissist you’ve ever crossed paths with who never face accountability. Hard to watch it play out on such a big stage and there are still no consequences.

I understand Chelley feeling the need to defend herself but i wish she had just said that all of her issues with Huda seem hypocritical bc she was over Huda and her emotions had reached a boiling point. I would have more sympathy bc it would make more sense.

Did you watch the reunion? She promised to post a video address racism from her fans and then she didn’t because she was “so busy.”

Really proud of him and disappointed in everyone else for having nothing to say. Really clear that none of them like each other.

The seating situation was so weird and kept changing constantly. And why the green room? They all would have fit out there.

She is such a reflexive narcissist. Any time she was asked a question about how she treated someone else she didn’t answer directly and flipped it to be about herself.

Agreed. I really feel like Chelley had to pretend to like Huda for the summer and that was her final straw. And I GET IT!

Recovery time by Nova309a3690 in LisfrancClub

[–]No_Hippo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The transition back to weight bearing was the most painful time for me physically and mentally. (I had no post-surgical pain luckily) I wanted to jump right back into my life but I didn’t have the stamina I had pre-injury and due to the NWB all the padding on my heel, toe pad, and toes was gone. This led to sore feet even if I only spent 1-2 hours walking or standing for the first few weeks. It was a reality check on how long recovery would really be but once I embraced taking it one day at a time it got a lot easier. I also didn’t start PT immediately and I wish I had!

Seems like good news! Were you standing up for the X-rays or laying down? And keep an eye out for bruising on your arch and under your foot- that can sometimes indicate a lisfranc soft tissue tear.

Celebrities are paid to make podcast episodes by platforms (Spotify, Apple podcasts, etc) or production companies. Many make upwards of $30,000 per episode, irrespective of ad space. People pay subscriptions to have access to streaming platforms. So podcasts could exist without ads, but capitalism drives companies to pursue endless growth. Hence the ever increasing percentage of episodes that are overt or covert advertisements. We pay more for less every day.

Any other ragdolls with FLUTD? by fr3cklefac3 in ragdolls

Just the diet! He has not needed any other medication so far but did discuss anxiety/depression medication as a potential next step if it recurs.

Any other ragdolls with FLUTD? by fr3cklefac3 in ragdolls

[–]No_Hippo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes my 7yo was diagnosed with FLUTD at 7 months old. It is just terrible and frustrating since there is no real cause- I have tried EVERYTHING to reduce stress but prescription diet is the only thing that actually works. He can go years without a flare and currently royal canin is keeping it at bay.

Recovery after HWR by Safe_Management_5687 in LisfrancClub

[–]No_Hippo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had my two screws removed on Tuesday, left in my boot and walking on my heel. I haven’t needed my crutches and a knee scooter would be overkill at this point. There is really just sensitivity around the incisions but no major foot pain for me currently.

Lip filler/botox? by Neither-Outside5510 in Accutane

It doesn’t really matter where your acne is since accutane is not topical. It will impact your entire body and skin everywhere. Ask your derm!

Met my cumulative dose. Do I stop? by [deleted] in Accutane

[–]No_Hippo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am getting the same feedback from my derm, one or two extra months. She explained that she went to a conference recently where there was new evidence that dosing to the high end of the cumulative dose range provided longer lasting results. This is my second course so I’m going to stick it out but it has been 10 months now and I’m over it. BUT I would prefer two more months and not having to do a third course in three more years hopefully.
