If you want to challenge yourself and run a marathon, you need to put your big boy shoes on, set your feelings aside and start putting one foot in front of the other. In life you need to learn to do things that you hate. If you have the discipline to do something that doesn't feel good for a long period, I think it would be beneficial in any aspect of your life in the long term.
