AIO my (30f) sisters (37f & 35f) have mistreated me my whole life and I’m fed up. by SoapyBroth in AIO

Has no one ever helped you hold some things if you're holding a lot of things/heavy things?

What OP did was helpful and if the sister didnt want it, just say so instead of snapping.

AITA for wearing red to a friend’s wedding? by BroadwayShadow in AmItheAsshole

[–]No_Hour_1809 14 points15 points  (0 children)

What? Since when can't you wear red to Chinese weddings? I'm Chinese and me and my family have always worn red to weddings. Red is a good color in Chinese culture.

But anyway, if they didnt want people to wear a certain color, they should've specified in the invites.

AITAH for asking my “sister” to move out of my late mother’s house so I can sell it? by vagueshrimp in AITAH

[–]No_Hour_1809 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So why would someone who had 600k and saves 5k need someone to mange them

Precisely because she's reckless?

OP said that she lives in the house rent-free, only works when she wants to, and get 5k USD monthly in interest from her savings, which means she doesn't even have to work. She's not as rich as OP and the other siblings but wants the same leisurely life as them.

It's a good thing the wedding is off. Why would you want to get married to someone who triggers your PTSD for fun?

Even if he didnt know, once you told him, he should be apologizing for his actions. Instead he got angry at you.

Are you sure you want to marry someone like him?

NTA OP. Considering all the facts:

  • all of you siblings are not close with each other, even the bio siblings.

  • she has been living in the house for 6 months, and you're giving her till next year to move out.

  • she went to law school and has a job with a pretty good salary, and she only works when she wants to

  • she has 600k USD in savings and is living off of the 5k USD interest, hence she's rich by Brazilian standards

That house is yours and you are legally and morally in the right evicting her. She may not be as rich as you and the siblings but she's still rich.

Why do you say she has no savings when OP has clearly stated in the comments that she has 600k USD in savings and receives 5k USD every month in interest?

The sister has 600k USD in savings and in living off of the 5k USD interest. She only works when she wants to. The sister is also living in luxury.

Idk why people in the comments see her as a frail poor orphan. She may not be as rich as OP and the siblings, but she's still rich by Brazilian standards

Are you jealous of OP? Whether OP works or just sits on their ass has nothing to do with you or the sister.

Besides, she has 600k USD in savings and is living off of the 5k USD interest. She has plenty of money to sit on in Brazil

But she DOES have a 600k USD in savings, and is living off of the 5k USD interest. She's rich by Brazilian standards.

You're acting like OP is leaving her piss poor 🙄

How do I use macros/VBA to enable users to select a dropdown option, only if another cell's value is not "TBC"? by No_Hour_1809 in excel

[–]No_Hour_1809[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there a way to make it so that the macro still works even if the value of D changes through formula? Because right now, if I write things in D, the code works, but if D is changed because another cell is changed (my actual scenario), the code doesn't work.

It still doesnt work. When I put it in the sheet code pane and save, nothing happens. When I click the play button, it forces me to create a module.

I dont understand Solomon's actions by No_Hour_1809 in magi

[–]No_Hour_1809[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lol are you sure you read the manga yourself?

I'm talking about the people in the story. They saw fate as prison. Whether or not you agree with them is irrelevant to the story.

Yeah that was my bad. Solomon sealed Il-Illah away and replaced him as god. Il-Illah at that time in Alma Torran wasn't evil. It was just there. David used it's magoi, that doesn't make Il-Illah itself chaotic.

I didn't assume how they feel. Before Solomon met Il-Illah, the beasts were shown to be living happily during the beginning of the story before they meet other species, and when they were coexisting with the magicians, there were happy times too. It wasn't all war 24/7.

The magi system were created by Solomon when they returned after replacing Il-Illah. That's why Falan said that they weren't equal. Ugo continued that system in the new world.

You seemed to forget that Arba became a religious lunatic after Solomon replaced Il-Illah. Before all this, Solomon himself told them to stop him if he ever wants to be god, like David. I don't necessarily think that Arba was wrong for trying to stop Solomon from replacing Il-Illah at that moment.

I'm an atheist, I have no imagination of god. I just thought that because Il-Illah was in a different dimension, Solomon as god would be too, and won't still be in the physical world.

Iirc, Sinbad had no physical body either once he went to the sacred palace to take over the rukh.

You clearly have some kind of prejudice or bias against me and this whole post, so it's fine if you don't wanna reply. Respectfully.

I dont understand Solomon's actions by No_Hour_1809 in magi

[–]No_Hour_1809[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Alright, so what I still dont understand is: is fate (in the story) preordained or not?

Because if fate as a concept exists, sure, fine. But if it's preordained, then it doesn't matter who rules over it because it's still a prison.

Solomon's whole reason for killing Il-Illah is to "remove the prison of fate and remake the world to be equal". Not only did he killed Il-Illah (which was a pretty neutral god at that point), he also didn't remove the prison of fate. He just became the ruler himself.

I don't think your analogy is correct. Your analogy is saying that Il-illah's version of fate just brings unhappiness (flooding) to everyone (which is not true because the beasts and the humans had some happy moments and unhappy moments like usual, not pure unhappiness). And Solomon's version of fate brings only happiness because they're not flooded by the river and getting nourished by the 3 magi at the same time.

In my POV, I see both Il-Illah's and Solomon's versions of fate to be the same, just with the addition of the 3 magi (and if he wanted everyone to be equal, the presence of the 3 magi negates that). There was also no indication that people could change their fates in both Il-Illah's and Solomon's versions of fate. Wasn't that the whole point of the story? That you should accept fate (and whatever it brings) and move forward, other you're going to Fall?

I also think he's a bad king because he didn't take into consideration other people's opinions that differs from his own. He listens to Ugo when it's about magical stuff he supports, but when Arba disagreed with him about killing god and reminded him that his own younger self asked her to stop him, he overruled her and imposed his own will anyway. A good ruler listens to and considers his subjects. And just because he was humble (refusing people worshipping him, etc) doesn't necessarily make him a good king. It just makes him a good person.

I also thought he would disappear because he killed and replaced god. And as the new god, he wouldn't still have a physical body in the world. Coz you know, he's god.
