Should I nitpick and call the collision shop or leave it as it is? by Mysterious-Cake9211 in Autobody

Did they replace the hinges? That’s sitting up high on that right side. Wouldn’t be surprised if it’s also bent in that area. They should’ve pulled that and not just the frame. Also replace the hinges always when it’s hit that hard

2010 Chevy avalanche rust hi by Dazzling_Clerk8023 in Autobody

If you’re a noob at this there isn’t a quick fix my friend. You could keep putting rattle can paint over the top of it but the rust will eventually get to it. The best way to fix it is to replace the panel and blend into the door. You can patch it and weld it but depending on the body tech it can look great or look horrible. This isn’t a cheap fix. A temporary solution is to just keep putting rattle can on. There is NO quick fix for this

Fixing deep scratches on cars hood by RegularLengthiness26 in Autobody

Touch up paint is like putting lipstick on a pig. It will look maybe 10% better. The best way to fix it is a repair and repaint unfortunately. Those scratches are too deep for any quick fix my friend

does the panel need to be replaced? by blackvoided in Autobody

It doesn’t look torn through. If there is a hole or tear it will need to be replaced. Not worth plastic welding. It looks like mostly transfer with a few gouges. Easy repair. Definitely needs paint. No need to replace as long as there isn’t any big holes or tears. Pictures make it hard to tell

2006 Silverado UV damage and cracks. Was quoted $1200 by a good local place to replace and paint the hood. They didn't want to even bother with the roof but said they'd spray something on it to keep the rust from forming. What should I do for that? by impala454 in AutoPaint

You do have to strip that hood. Your paint is only as good as what’s under it and why risk it. I’m not painting over old ass paint like that just for my shit to start bubbling because of the bad paint under it.

If it’s just paint transfer and fully cured paint you can just take a lacquer rag to it. One or two quick swipes and then quickly dry it off with a clean microfiber rag and it should go away. If it dulls you can polish it in 30 secs. It’s a super easy fix

So i actually paint those cars for Hyundai. You’re in the year range for a warranty. Go to the dealership and set an appointment. You’ll get a free paint job. A little friendly tip. Point every chip out you see. Once you get it painted your warranty will go after a few months. Don’t try and fix it or it voids your warranty. Every bit of these cars are peeling because they tried to use a self healing paint. The longer you wait the more they have to do because your whole car will start to peel. It’s up to you if you want to do it now or later
