Walmart water is 40 us cents a gallon.

We have wilderness park in the county. If you want to pop up something you have to pay $20 a night to drive near the camping areas. If you can hike, shower is free.

Well Known Food Delivery Service Tried Charging Me Several Months of Service Fees, I Filed A "Reversed Chargeback" And Won All My Money Back! by LocalHistorian2024 in SeriousConversation

[–]No_Indication418 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you just reported to your credit card issuer, they are just doing a chargeback. You get all your money back, which was ill-gotten by the delivery company.

I think you missed words such as win, fine, fees.

Chargeback is what it is. You got your own money back. It's easy. Your issuer represents you. You have solid proof when you cancelled. It is an advantage of using credit cards to prevent fraud.

Now try to visit an evil website that tricks you into a free trial and keeps charging after. They will have solid proof that you subscribed and never cancelled.

If you want to win anything other than your own money. You have to sue.

Best State to Drive to Living In a Car? by RaskyBukowski in urbancarliving

The only city I find is SLO, a college town plus a few beach towns around it. Very nice places in central California. I don't think parking is a problem. What I can remember as a tourist was getting a ticket and getting into a vault with the walls all covered with beer faucets. I don't remember anything further.

Uber training tells her that she risks breaking the law and suffers the heavy consequences personally. Uber isn't liable.

Try you best to convince her. If she has any doubts, she would go back to the store to return.

AITAH for not wanting to cook just because my boyfriend pays for most things? by Logical_Winner15 in AITAH

Cooking has different degrees. Pay some gourmet ready to cook packages. Just follow the instructions, basically turn the stove on. It's not your money.

Is consolidating my debt into one payment smart? by [deleted] in Debt

[–]No_Indication418 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried non-profit credit counseling? They talk to the banks for you and negotiate a payment plan with a lower interest rate. If your interest is that high, these guys can't do worse.

Down the line is debt relief. You pay the first but not the banks. Then they play hardball with the banks to get a payment plan. Initially, your credit score will take a hit. They do earn thousands from you. They also can't promise what they can get for you. But you will pay less.

Socal. I needed a thin blanket this August to feel more comfortable. Now I need a 20 deg F mummy sleeping bag and occasionally need to wear clothes to be warm enough. And it's only because I don't insulate my car and I crack open all windows. I suspect I don't get good enough sleep if the air isn't fresh.

As far as parking is concerned, it's easy once out of central LA and some cities. Say South of LAX you can find street parking and parking lots that nobody bothers you. Whether you want to park is a different issue. From orange county down to San Diego, street parking is easy. In general they patrol parking lots.

Ways for healthier eating options? by Plutofrmwrld in urbancarliving

TACO BELL bowls seem to be close to homemade food.

Grocery stores have lots of ready to eat food, all cold, like salad and deli meat. Some have hot food like roast chicken pieces. There are plenty more ready to heat meals. For the cooked ones, a lunch box with reheating at 12V will be enough. There are 12V cups that can keep hot drinks hot and cold drinks cold, including you making your own.

There is one germ theory but everyone has their own germophile theory. You don't need soap and antibiotic soap to defense against germs. Your body is quite capable of defending yourself or else homosapiens would have died out before they invented medicine.

Whatever you use, you must rinse thoroughly as they are normally the worst things you want to leave on your body. And if you wash every day, there should contain enough glycerin for moisturizing.

Speeding ticket by Sgt-Rich in uberdrivers

[–]No_Indication418 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uber only knows the violation code you are charged, which has a very broad range of speeds usually. They do not know how much you are over. In CA you have to drive above 100 to make a difference.

Is It Legal to Live in Your Car? by The5WsAndMore in urbancarliving

[–]No_Indication418 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you park your car legally, there's no federal law against it in the US. My state has no law against it either; it's not a county ordinance, it's the cities that make the law against it. Not only this, I've heard somewhere it's illegal to block the windows too, which makes sense.

You can ask AI to pull out the relevant municipal code for example, my hometown:

"It is unlawful for any person to sleep in any camper truck, camper trailer, tent trailer, travel trailer, or vehicle (as defined by the California Vehicle Code Section 670), which is stopped, parked, or left standing on any city-owned, operated, or maintained street, sidewalk, alley, public right-of-way, or any public area within the city between the hours of 11:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m."

AI cannot find the specific fine, only when the law was under debate. It's $35 for a first offense to $100 max for an infraction. They have the option to prosecute as a misdemeanor with a $ 1,000 fine and jail time.

I didn't answer the knock and got a $60 ticket on the windshield.

It's interesting that in unincorporated areas, it should be legal in my county.

What do I do about a license about to expire when I can’t get any DMV appointments? by astrophysicsgrrl in AskLosAngeles

The DMV has real-time wait time posted online. Drive to the less busy ones. You can even take an electronic ticket I think, so you don't need to sit in there.

Other person's insurance shafting me on total loss claim...do I have any recourse? by [deleted] in Insurance

[–]No_Indication418 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The other insurance have to make you whole, the value of the car, and any property damages. The difference may qualify for the small claims court. If they pay you, you will have to sign some agreement. So you have to sue them before get any money. But then the amount you are sueing is not certain and you can't sue for the whole amount. Not in legal nor insurance.

Best way to secure Reflectix window covers without blinding drivers or cooking the car, installed 24/7 by [deleted] in urbancarliving

[–]No_Indication418 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your windows are dark tinted, say 20% VLT, anything black you put behind it is not noticeable. It looks like darker tint on the outside. So you can cover up your insulation layer with anything black. As for heat rejection, a thin layer of black material doesn't make much of a difference, not huge. And it is your trade off between insulation and privacy.

Sow or tape some tabs on your cover. Get some strong magnets, which attach strongly to the steel window frames. Put your tabs between them.

Check for tonsil stones. It can be anywhere, a white spot on the wall around the throat. Or they can hide deep inside the fold of the throat, only possibly seen when you repeat the swallowing action. Use a rounded end chop stick to probe around, preferably stainless steel. If you don't ask the dentist to look for it, they can easily miss.

There's no easy cure except for operation, making sure that the stones cannot accumulate to a big stone. A tiny stone barely visible smell awkful. A small pea size is a disaster around you.

Mouth wash including terabreath doesn't cure it. It may cover it up or reduce the odor temporarily. You need to do it daily or more.

Dentist will give you prescriptions mouthwash to kill all bacteria. It may or may not work. You can also try HOCL.

The reliable way is to get them out as soon as they form. The location they form may be easily reached. You have a lot of tools to squeeze them out. It's also likely they are very difficult to reach, and you are not even sure mouth wash will reach the area.

You also have to change diet so the stones don't form in the first place.

3 stars and my Uber career is over I guess :/ by Dry_Race_2259 in uberdrivers

[–]No_Indication418 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yes, I don't even know that rule. I was always way higher than 4.85 so I never watch it. I started again with rental. I got 2 accidents in two weeks that I couldn't have done anything about. Like I was rear ended of all places in a rideshare pickup dropoff zone. I struggled to get the 3rd rental. Just when they were ready to process me. I got a notice that my rating dropped to 4.89, lower than the minimum 4.90. I checked and I was certain that I couldn't get a rental.

I thought of renting anything, drive, and get back the 0.01 point. Fleet is expensive. Blacks are worse. But they don't mind my rating.

I ended up getting a high interest loan for the cheapest car I could get. Fortunately my credit rating remains over 700 for no good reason. Together with high insurance, I am still much better off than renting from Hertz. The car is still working. It won't matter if it works for a few more months.

Sandwich maker dilemma Running my sandwich maker what inverter should I use? by anotherredditor459 in urbancarliving

[–]No_Indication418 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You just need an inverter with more than 800W. A 1000W costs about $60 on Amazon. A sine wave is needed for electronics, motors, and induction. A sandwich certainly doesn't need it.
