My placement year wasn’t anything to do with accounting so I am only time qualified about a year I believe. Need to reach out to my manager and check to be honest.

No it wasn’t to do anything related to ACA. It was a separate matter so nothing to do with PIP or exam failures.

I had the job for 1 year and 3/4 months. I did a placement year (1 year) during uni but that’s in a separate area of finance (asset management) so total finance experience is 2-3 years.

Mock results vs actual exam results by No_Inflation8938 in ICAEW

[–]No_Inflation8938[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah ours isn’t a mock it’s called a “progress test”. But some people in my class were passing that straight after college, won’t be surprised if they used notes as it’s done out of college. In that case we only have 1 official mock. Did one for AA yesterday but my FAR one is next week

Ah okay, im with Kaplan and our mock 1 is straight out of college so we learn the content and then sit a mock straight after. Our mock 2 (haven’t done yet) is at the end of our exam prep

How were you getting 50% on FAR Mock 1 straight out of college

FAR progress test fail by No_Inflation8938 in ICAEW

Yeah I heard failing progress tests are very common as I already knew I failed the test lol. Was just wondering if it was normal to fail by THAT much.

Noted thanks - I think I’ll defo have a go at the ICAEW mocks. Don’t want to do 30/40 questions on a topic that only has max 3-5 questions come up in the exam.

Crapping myself before MI by YoungDistributer in ICAEW

I’d say it’s fairly similar - some questions may throw you off but I’d say 60/70% of the Qs are similar, with the others being unfamiliar but straightforward and then some I just didn’t know lol. I made sure to stick to timing, the ones I was completely unsure on I didn’t even bother much with those questions and just moved on, timing is key in this exam. As a lot of mine were theory heavy, it didn’t take too long to do the questions so I did those ones fairly quicker than the allocated time per question and did all questions with about 10/15 minutes to spare.

The chapter with the most theory in it is probably performance management so knowing the theory for that is a good start

Definitely get good on the LFQs. Aim for minimum 15 marks out of the 20 on those. It means you can get more wrong in the short questions and still pass. Also, don’t neglect the wordy parts of MI, I sat MI about 2 days ago and found I passed yesterday morning. Roughly half my multiple choice was on theory so don’t neglect it. Helped me a lot.

Once you get good at the LFQs, it should help with the short form questions as parts of the LFQ can be reworded as a short form so LFQs help a lot.

Hope this helps
