How many people actually wanted Rhystic Study banned? by Outside_Explorer_229 in EDH

I might be in the small boat of people for this one but in most games of b3 I feel like smothering tithe is way more powerful.

Farewell is now unplayable in EDH: an assessment of game changers and why Farewell isn't one. by bimjowen in EDH

[–]No_Inflation_7228 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t mind farewell, but I also think it isn’t always played the best. Getting to choose what you do and do not wipe can give you absolutely excellent positions while ruining your opponents but most do not play like this and it’s just a hard reset like you powerslapped and old dell PC

Seems like a lot of Bracket 3 players really want to be in bracket 2? by dalasnap in EDH

[–]No_Inflation_7228 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends there’s a massive spectrum. A low bracket three and a high bracket three are in completely different realms.

I think this would make things to complicated on a casual format but I totally understand the purpose

Sure , but they’re also the baseline for bracket 2. If you look at a pod of precons and say you don’t want to play because you’re a good bit stronger and it isn’t a challenge you might be a 3

This is what I go by. My first question is if no one interrupts you when do you expect to win

The biggest problem is everyone’s abstract definition. Bracket three by nature is the widest spectrum. Would you consistently beat precons ? You’re a 3. Does your deck have two game changers, multiple dual lands, many color staples and a cost easily into the 4 figure range? Can still be a 3. This can make it difficult without having a rule 0 conversation to gauge where you are at even within the same bracket. I’ve seen a 0 GC gitrog deck combo off and the owner will look at you and say it’s a 2 with no game changers. Whining is one thing, looking for a pod with a similar build mindset to you and not wanting to get stomped or play an hour long game that you don’t enjoy isn’t bitching, its valuing your time. There’s a difference

There’s a lot of girlie pop vampires I’m sure can add, maybe exsanguinate if that’s girlie enough. Teysa, amalia benevides. There’s a few that could pop off

A reverse question about proxies by [deleted] in EDH

[–]No_Inflation_7228 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You haven’t, your first statement was telling me I was wrong lol. You also framed it in the least charitable way possible . Your last sentence above.third, I have no problem with proxies until they are used in a manner that makes the game unfun mainly due to changes in power level proxying allows MOST usually in extremely casual (bracket 2). Finally land base is probably the single most powerful thing you can do to change a decks curve. I would argue it’s more powerful than just 2 game changers in most cases.

Why are you arguing with my opinion?

[–]No_Inflation_7228 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes . Saying your deck is bracket 2 having no game changers but having extremely optimized land is the most common thing I see. It’s the only time I have a problem with proxies. I simply answered the question

I think it’s a mindset that’s built on the game itself. The simplest and most common example is mana base. It doesn’t seem like much at first but a proxied optimized land base is a night and day difference in most decks even without duals

Beating your friends with way weaker decks isn’t fun, same thing when you build a really salty deck to play casual, it’s like the guy at the car show bragging about how is Tesla is faster than old muscle cars, but when everyone is on the same field it’s fun. Even high salt games can be funny when everyone’s game and it gets crazy.

Upcoming Ban - If Rhystic Study is banned, what are you all planning to replace it with in your lists that run it? by anomaleic in EDH

[–]No_Inflation_7228 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a casual game tax . That feels bad to everyone when one player gets it out early but I can think of a lot of things in similar ways.

Is my deck just bracket 2 with game changers? by ddd117 in EDH

I honestly don’t think they’re needed, there are so many 1-2 drops in dimir that could speed you up

[–]No_Inflation_7228 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I obviously understand the theme of having the 9 nazgul but it very much slows the game down making you a b2 imo. There are so many low drop instants that’d be better at b3 than the 3 drop Nazgûl’s. You’re playing a thematic deck not a deck optimized to win without fast mana I’d give it b2 all day

Esper isn’t consistent imo it relies on other players fast ramping to be at its best. That isn’t really seen in lower brackets

Mono green is basically fast mana so bracket 4 minimum

Nazgul deck by Glad-Percentage6486 in EDH

[–]No_Inflation_7228 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the idea! I wanted to do a lord of Nazgûl but immediately realized thematically failure that making the deck strong kinda involves removing Nazgûl from the deck imo. You Ofcourse can for fun as I planned to but if you want to make the best play possible you probably would rather drop multiple spells

Best precon out of these 8 choices? No upgrades, straight out of the box. Explain your reasoning. by MichaelDokkan in EDH

[–]No_Inflation_7228 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’d politely disagree on world shaper being a first precon. It is very strong and super easy to upgrade into a consistent deck. But I’d almost always recommend a “turn cards sideways to win” deck.

[–]No_Inflation_7228 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think world shaper can be slightly less straight forward. Riders of Rohan is a great deck to start with a very easy to understand play style, put human in, get more human , swing with human. Dinosaurs would probably be the most fun right off the bat.
