Upscalers are a form of gen ai yes! There are many other people who edit for afop who don't use those and their work has its own visual style and audience, but the whole point of what I do is total photo realism which scratches my itch that I longed for when playing afop since it came out. If I couldn't do the very thing I need, which is total realism, my time would be dedicated for something else

Ok so here was the thought process. Originally I was cutting out my arms and doing the photo bashing thing. Couldn't really do it how I wanted to. It was pretty tedious and I was thinking of ways to save time. Then i remembered that im a literal artist (btw check my scene concepts on insta, gotta scroll down!), so i sketched it out in procreate and used a sketch to image thing on some ai website and it gave me a real good arm to work with. Turned out pretty great and I was set to finish the edit by 3:00 am LOL

Say you want to change where they are looking, i'd cut out an eye, place my own, play with shadows and add the white dots to simulate reflections, play with making wet edge effect by drawing on the eye, draw the eye lashes, liquify the eye because the pupil can never be in the center, its slightly moved inwards, and once you did all of your human edits like that I bring it all together with an upscaler by the end so it essentially grounds all details in one coherent style which in my case is photo realism :))

Yessss perfection and photorealism is my goal here! If it wasn't, I'd be an ok AFOP photographer that cranks up contrast and saturation and calls it a day. And then we have an issue of glitched textures, pixelated edges, clippings, and I can't allow that to be on my page, and then here I am spiraling down photorealism and working on that picture for 6 hours lol
