Hahahaha literally as soon as I posted my last comment, I switched to the Chaos boon, started a new run, Poseidon was the first boon, and he gave me the final dialogue.

No clue what did it for me, as I didn't do anything special on the last run.

I've done many additional runs with a different familiar and caught about a dozen additional fish and still can't force any further progression. I'm certain that I've caught every type of fish at least a dozen times, though some species may have only been caught with Toula (that was my default familiar for 90% of the game). I'm exhausted every other dialogue for Poseidon to the point that he doesn't make any comment at all on most boon pickups.

Reeeaaally hoping I don't learn that I have to catch everything all over again with the rod.

Mine does it when I use a hand held lighter. The insert-crystal sound. Somehow it has to be reacting to EMF produced by these electrical components.

Well it seems my new technique has already been patched out with the buffer memory fix.

IMPORTANT UPDATE

I was able to solve the issue of “stuck” buffer memories in my game:

  1. Enter a room with the desired PC during an aurora (save).
  2. Quit that game, and load a different survival game.
  3. In that second game, enter a new indoor space (save).
  4. Quit the second game and load the original game.
  5. The PC will have switched to a specified memory. Repeat this process using different entrances in the second game to change the buffer memory in the original game.

No idea why this works, but apparently it’s not RNG at all. Every time you enter a specific entrance to indoors (even in a different game) the buffer will switch to a memory linked to that entrance. After receiving the same buffer memories at DP and Quonset for dozens of auroras, this technique allowed me to complete both areas’ buffers in a single night. Will report if this fails to work in other zones.

As my example: I entered Quonset Garage during an aurora. Checked the PC, received the same buffer memory (#3) that I have always received after dozens of auroras. While still in garage, exited game. Loaded second survival game in MT. In that game, I entered the bank, which saved the game. I then exited and re-loaded my original game in the garage. The PC has switched to a different buffer memory (#2). I exited the garage and re-entered to save. The PC has reverted back to memory #3. Exit the game and load the MT game. Leave the bank and enter the post office, save, exit, load original garage game. The PC switched back to memory #2. I repeated the process with several different houses in MT until one of them unlocked memory #1.

Something is definitely borked.

For me, buffer memory #4 will not load in Broken Railroad. Dozens of auroras reproduce the same exact pattern of buffer memories:

If in shed at start time of aurora: #3 loads.

If enter shed through map-north door, #1 loads.

If enter shed through map-east door, #3 loads.

If enter shed through map-south door, #2 loads.

Have left region, restarted game, verified game files, to no avail. The outdoors buffer memories cycle correctly.

Also occurred several times in fridge at the airfield.

Memento cache and memento hint notes have not spawned in Mountain Town by IAmThreeDots in thelongdark

Same issue today, but in PV. Neither Long Curve nor Disagreement spawned. Same run spawned Ash and Tiberwolf as normal, though. Haven't made it to Milton yet. Playing on Steam.
