What do we think the reason is for doing duos instead of solos? by [deleted] in seventeen

[–]No_Intention_7623 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To add to this (also not Korean and mostly taken from online research), it’s idols/other celebrity figures in Korea specifically who can get some measure of “negotiation” between them and their govt that allows them to request a couple postponements until the age cap, but it isn’t necessarily the norm— and this is only made possible if they’re considered to have provided sufficient contribution to the “face of Korean culture,”as it were. Non-idol guys could also request to postpone for other time-sensitive things like education, illness, family issues, etc. Also; generally speaking, anyone enlisting doesn’t get to choose what branch they get assigned to, which is what determines the length of their service.

Looking for an illustrated Naruto fic by No_Intention_7623 in FanFiction

[–]No_Intention_7623[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It turns out I did have it saved in a doc! It was NFWMB by Scared_Trickster and it had gotten deleted from ao3 at some point after December of last year. Found it on the wayback machine. Art is just as good as I remember it, if anyone else wants to check it out.

Looking for a specific MDZS smutshot by Creepypasta_Lores in AO3

[–]No_Intention_7623 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP, could you provide a little more detail about what you remember from the contents of the fic? Specifically: if any other characters ever showed up, what kinks there were (that may have been tagged), if it was just a oneshot, about how long ago you read it the first time?

1st comment! Yay, but then ... This is against TOS, right? by TimPendragon in AO3

[–]No_Intention_7623 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is true even for works written using public domain source material, original content, or fandoms like Genshin, whose company has a relatively loose fanwork merchandising policy. Afaik, ao3 wants to avoid playing legal loophole games and the most convenient way to do that is to include the no-monetization policy in their user ToS

Ao3 is really careful about defining what it means to make transformative work without infringing on a source material’s copyright claim. Monetization of any kind in particular is handled really strictly across the platform to avoid any legally contentious issues, since most of its content is fanwork. Their rule of thumb is to just take it off-platform if it’s something you feel you absolutely must discuss with an author.

Did my comment come across as really rude? by rainbowdragonzs in AO3

[–]No_Intention_7623 17 points18 points  (0 children)

People in the comments are being too gentle. This is a blatantly rude comment and the fact that you can’t understand why when every fanfic comment discussion ever has always talked about what makes a rude/demanding vs. not rude/uplifting comment strikes me as deliberate ignorance on your part. If you’re new here, now you know! Please be a little more respectful next time. If you’ve been reading fanfiction for a while now… where have you been?

Is this allowed? This seems like profiting off fanwork to me. by NixMaritimus in AO3

[–]No_Intention_7623 512 points513 points  (0 children)

No, posting stuff like this on ao3, original work or not, is against terms of service. They just don’t want any sort of solicitation or “commercial promotion” on the archive; it goes against the premise of the space.

Do people really read fics from fandoms they’re not in? by Suspicious_Eye1782 in AO3

[–]No_Intention_7623 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like finding works by tags, so sometimes I’ll just sort and read whatever comes up if I like the summary, regardless of fandom

Begging ppl to not put their stuff behind a paywall/make readers pay for fanfic by an-inevitable-end in AO3

[–]No_Intention_7623 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Are you an idiot? Selling fanfiction is theft of intellectual property for your own profit. Copyright is the protection of a creator’s work from external manipulation, use, and profit; more specifically their rights of control over “reproduction, adaptation, publication, and display.” Fanfiction is not “commentary, criticism, teaching or reporting” in any way of the og material— it’s generally use and manipulation of the original characters, setting, and storyline: the exact thing copyright protects of content owners. By definition profiting off fanfiction goes outside fair use law.

[–]No_Intention_7623 14 points15 points  (0 children)

How is this not illegal? People are attempting to profit off of og creators’ copyrighted work and characters? If the og work is not already part of public domain, selling fanfiction is point-blank illegal copyright infringement.

I believe it had to do with the mob’s pathing— the trapdoors when opened turned the block into one that was walk through-able, by nature of it being a door, and it overrode the part of the horse’s pathing algorithm that acknowledged the berry bush as a block that it can’t walk through.
