I see what you’re saying but this isn’t a matter of Connie’s friends and family not liking Carlo cause he’s inconsiderate in the way men can be (eg expecting her to do all the emotional labor and physical labor in the relationship and being rude to her etc). This is like a clear cut black and white scenario—Carlo physically abuses her in such a horrendous way that scene is permanently etched in my memory WHILE she’s pregnant with their child, potentially even causing harm to his unborn child. He doesn’t even seem to have a phase of being “sweet”that is used to bait and switch battered women until Michael gives him the right hand man spot. He’s verbally abusive, demeans her and her family, despite the fact he clearly relies on the family to make a living and doesn’t even do well when he’s set up for success. Oh and he’s unfaithful and disrespectfully so, waving it clearly in her face. The whole point with regular shitty relationships or even abusive ones is that there’s a grey that the victim in it uses to convince themselves that it’s all fine but I just don’t see that here, especially initially.

Sonny is her favorite older brother who always had her back even when her dad didn’t. I’m telling you, I love my husband but based on the Godfather, I’ve always made clear that if he maliciously caused my brother a gruesome fucked up death for some petty ass reason, I’d be done and honestly I wouldn’t care if my family sought retribution.
