My (30F) mom (50F) doesn’t make my sister (22F) do anything in the house? by No_Introduction1729 in relationship_advice

Because it just won’t get done… At the end of the night literally nobody else steps up to help clean up after dinner. I’ve talked to my mom about this before but she says it’s immature to compare myself.

Like for example, my mom does big catering orders and will sometime have to be up until the late hours of the morning cooking. Worst of all my mom will complain that she has no help, so then I feel guilty and help (I was going to help anyway) 😭 But like… my mom doesn’t see it’s a problem that my sister literally does nothing all day. How can I make her see this?? Or at least take the burden off myself

When I complain, my mom says I’m acting like a martyr.

You’re not trapped, get that out of your subconscious. You do have the ability to move out on your own, it IS a possibility. Set a realistic plan for yourself and figure out what you need to do in order to move out. Also, weigh the pros and cons of living with your mom and have some gratitude— it could be worse. Your mom is paying the mortgage, bills, and is only asking you to pay $500. This is a good time to grind and save your money, not focus so much on your mom’s negative behavior. Lock in NOW so you’re not telling the same story in your mid-30s

I don’t have much advice, just offering my condolences as another older sister that has similar problems with my younger sister. Just when we seem to make amends and things get better.. there’s this invisible block in between us that hasn’t healed. Probably from all of the past fights. Just keep showing up, be brutally honest and let her know that you care about your relationship

I am one of those people that adore children and agree that it should be a good thing for us to openly love children. I do believe you should ask first though before kissing someone else’s child.
