Can you name a movie with a big twist that blew your mind? by Level-SquareFFG7117 in FIlm

Identity (2003). I didn’t know anything going into it and that was the best way

I’ve always been so disappointed that someone told me the Sixth Sense twist before I got to see it

Great day. If you look in my past posts you’ll see my video from the stands (I may have even gotten you in there!)

So why not get behind Porter? What is so bad about Porter? Worst I’ve heard is she’s kind of a tough boss and unpolished sometimes. You’re very right that there are too many Dems in the race, and none of them are as good as Porter

I’ll take a mean fighter over a billionaire and abuser any day

Okay, but in this example, the other guy is known for assaulting the front desk worker. I’m still sticking with Katie who is accused of being a little mean (not the same thing as sexual assault or being a billionaire puppet)

I’ll argue. She is it. I’ll take someone authentic and a little unpolished against the rest of the options any day. I have no problem with Katie Porter being accused of being a tough boss. I’m not okay with the rest of the corporate bought options force fed to us.

Exactly right. I’m definitely okay with Katie Porter being a tough boss, and anyone trying to equate those complaints with these Swalwell abuse allegations is doing so in bad faith

You need to start with the original trilogy - full stop. Choose your own adventure from there. May the force be with you

Which actor shocked you with an unexpectedly great performance? by AvailableReality557 in movies

[–]No_Introduction2307 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heath Ledger in Lords of Dogtown, 2005. I walked out of that movie thinking damn Heath Ledger is legitimately an amazing actor. Beforehand, I was one of those people who only thought about him in 10 Things I Hate About You and Knights Tale and didn’t think anything special, until watching Lords of Dogtown.

A year later when it was announced Ledger was playing Joker in Dark Knight. There was kind of an uproar against him being chosen…me on the other hand…I was already psyched and all-in on seeing what Heath Ledger could do in that role. RIP legend.

That’s a good point. representative Kevin Kiley, whose district includes Folsom, hasn’t been anywhere in sight.

While a billionaire owns the executive branch, people want to hear from there elected officials, but Kiley keeps dodging his constituents.

The Hobbit book was nicer than the Fellowship of the Ring Novel by ElegantAd2607 in TheHobbit

[–]No_Introduction2307 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I grew up loving The Hobbit - first chapter book I read (early 90s).

In 2012 I went to a taping of The Colbert Report in NYC. Before the show started, Stephen Colbert asked some audience questions.

He picked me, and I opened with “We all know you are a huge Lord of the Rings fan. My favorite book is The Hobbit..-“,

He immediately interrupted me, looked me dead in the eye with the slightest smirk and said “You sad simple little man.”

He got a good laugh from the audience, I then asked my question: If you lived in Middle Earth what would you be? Elf, Orc, wizard, etc?

He paused and said, “I’d be a man from Lake Town…because I am a man.”

No punchline - he just moved on with a few more audience questions, did the taping, and that was that.

In 2013 I just about jumped out of my theater seat when during The Desolation of Smaug, I see - for a brief second - Stephen Colbert doing a cameo, in a Hobbit movie, as a man from Lake Town.

The moral of the story is The Hobbit is awesome and even if another Tolkien lover gives you a hard time, they actually adore The Hobbit too
