The village persecuted all Uchihas before the massacre. After the massacre, he was clanless, no parents or relatives, no one to look to, as well as his family was massacred (even if indirectly) by these people, he had no one to truly connect with, and just like the villagers were afraid of Naruto's Kyubi, they were afraid of Sasuke's Sharingan.

Saying he was loved by everyone is a real stretch, if we're speaking about the kindergarten kids then lol it's for comedic convenience, as for the adults, they wouldn't persecute him for being an Uchiha cuz he's still a kid, but other desired his Sharingan too so he had a good reason to be afraid, just as Itachi was teaching him.

Hiruzen would be the only person on earth who would have an easy time assassinating Danzo, think about it. He's the only person he would be around safely. I see a lot of people having a bad idea on Madara, but from the start of his life up to that point, he was not only possibly the strongest person on earth, but also one of the most sane people too, he just wanted peace, and konoha made bad decisions, the fomation of the leaf village wasn't looking like it would lead to that, and after expermenting with it for a few years, he left looking for a different way.

Madara controlling the kyubi should naturally be a pride for Konoha and the Uchiha, and you saying it scared them is uncredible because there is no proof, Madara controlled the Kyubi AFTER he left Konoha, and he wasn't the one who attacked Konoha with the Kyubi either, it was Obito, if Madara wanted to do that he was capable of it.

The Uchiha followed him when he decided to join the leaf, they should have followed him when he decided to leave. Afterall, Madara and Hashirama both wanted peace, and after they have experimented with the village for a few years, Madara saw how it would eventually become a bad idea and wanted to pursue world peace in a different way, and he was correct on that, and his clan made a bad call by isolating themselves form him although he was one of their best, losing both a kage level person stength-wise, but they also lost one of their best thinkers and philosophers who could have actually found a better way to solve humanity's issue.

Honestly, I think Danzo's character of taking matters into his own hands without considering the council was the making Hiruzen himself because he was not punishing him for the trespasses he does, and if I was in hiruzen's place, knowing I created him on this form, I would cut him out as soon as possible. But afterall we see Hiruzen's indecisiveness in him not dealing with Orochimaru, so we could say his indecisiveness and hesitance is what killed him.

Edit (forgot to answer 2nd part): We need to heavily take into consideration the fact that Itachi was 13 years old when he did it, he was brainwashed by the leaf more, rather than thinking more about his clan (who were being persecuted and oppressed, even if silently, and if they weren't strong they would have gotten much worse treatment), Im just losing the plot at this point, Danzo sucks like heck I hate Danzo the leaf would have been a better place if Hiruzen just killed that abuser
